I have always had a crack theory that all of these “writers” for these narrative consultant firms are shitty ex-fanfiction writers.

Regardless of whether they believe in the “woke” tropes or not, my belief is that it’s a convenient shield in public discourse, and a Trojan Horse to trick developers into more-or-less hiring someone they would otherwise have never brought on as an internal hire.
