As funny as it is the Hitler notification shows that he doesn't understand what the notification enjoyers are arguing for. It's not about the points or the asspats, but some people seem to have been using it as a sort of bookmark system because the watched thread system doesn't fit with how they use the site.
Null seems to have a tendency to not have his finger on the pulse of his website. From an outside perspective it seems like he has some sort of bias against certain users. Not as in "he only listens to privileged users in his secret inner circle", but it seems to come down to how somebody brings things to his attention. I'm not sure how to explain it without him explaining it himself. He seems to have an easier time communicating over MATI than he does through the forum.
I am not undoing this. I am observing genuine psychological damage inflicted on people.
Fuck those people. Let them eat stickers.

It's less about feelings and more about not wanting to deal with bullshit. If I made it so that your browser crashed 30% of the time you posted, you'd stop posting.
That should be your April Fools gimmick.
I'm gotten used to the change. I still get notified when people reply to me, so conversation in threads keeps on going. I don't really miss the post notifications at all. Once the whiners get used to using the site's functionality the grumbling will lessen/stop. I could give less of a shit about sticker drama.
Also if you *really* want to save a thread for later, just set it to watched like a normal people.

This isn't even a third of the threads im keeping tab of btw. Just the ones I remembered off the top of my head.

Probably going to miss felix's resurgance too.
Probably going to miss a LOT of shit tbh because I'm going to need to turn off notifications just from the sheer amount I'm getting this very moment. While the watched threads page is so ineffectual at keeping tabs on shit it might as well be "what's new" wonkier and also up in my face about it.

To make no mention I'll have to turn auto-watch on/off when looking at the thunderdome. Cuz fuck that.

Actually nah. Screw all that I'll just fly by the seat of my pants.

Then why are you unable to continue using the forum with the Received Reactions page? If you actually do just re-read a thread every single fucking time you see a post has a new turd button pressed on it, why can't you do this from a different page without a constant never-ending flow of notifications about every post you've ever made?
On what logical basis, do I or anybody else upset about these changes, have to justify why we're upset about something you changed that was familiar to us? This feature was enjoyed and utilized by the members of this forum for a decade due to its ease of use, immediate feedback, and its efficiency in communicating the thoughts and opinions of fellow KF members. This feature you deride gave your forum a useful tool that helped set it apart from most forums and social media as something uniquely yours.

I believe I've now reached self-actualization on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, bros.

There's nowhere to go but down now, so I think that's a sign for me to retire from the site forever. I no longer need to post mean things on the Internet for validation from strangers. Best of luck to all of you on your own journeys in life.

My main comment was I came from high-volume forums. I came on here to a cow thread and got told 'don't double post, don't shit the thread up, use stickers if you don't have something to say besides 'good/bad post''. I liked that idea, especially on more archiving-style threads about cows.

On A&H I like the dopamine hits. The one I really would miss is getting a late sticker in A&H and go back and delete or edit it. The lates helped train me to be more careful on news and articles, so to me that was a real utility.

Unfortunately, nuking stickers also vaporizes the highlight function, which is based off engagement, positive or negative. It would be ripping out yet another useful navigation tool in an attempt to correct a perceived user behavior problem.
Another good thing about stickers is that it minimizes the amount of unnecessary replies. If you just want to signify that you like something, you agree with something, you found something informative, or disagree with it, dislike it, or think it's dumb, you can just leave a sticker to leave simple minimal feedback.

The issue is that the stickers were more than that. They were the basis of the user score, and there were notifications for them, which incentivized dopamine minmaxing instead of actual forum engagement. Even worse, it created an entire subsection of users who deeply cared about the stickers and the reaction score. It's why people like secret watcher, HHH, Lidl Drip and many other found them so great, because it was so easy to piss off so many people with them. People that frankly don't contribute much value to the site because they only sperg and rage.

Now, as far as sticker notifications go, I had them disabled for years, but I also had a way to check them manually. When the reaction score was visible, I'd notice it go up and down, and if I clicked on it I could see all of my stickers. That's how I kept track of those. Now with the reaction score gone it's two clicks away, but I can always check them if I want to, and them being one click more away is not an issue because they're not the main way I interact with the site and keep track of what I like.

Here, another good trick. If you click on your post count in that little window where you used to have your reaction score below, you can see your latest postings. One click away from the front page. Boom, now you're keeping track of your posting. You want some other way to keep track of your watched threads? There's a banner on top. Stickers are a distraction, and the notifications aren't needed. Just look them up manually if you want to keep track of them.

Of course the biggest real issue people have is that the reaction score was also a form of user reputation, with fags having a negative score which was a good way to quickly see how well they were posting.

Now, if Null is reading this, he can stop reading it right now because I'm going to state what I would do to solve this, and I know he hates whenever I suggest anything, let alone suggests something that involves implementing features into XenForo.

What I would do to solve this, is I would add a little rank note, something like you'd see in a video game. It would be calculated on the reaction score to post ratio, and it would take negative reaction score into consideration. The way it would be calculated would be unknown, the reaction score would be unknown, there wouldn't be any good way for users to figure out the system to get their dopamine hits, nor would they get them because it would change at random based on how well a given user's posts are received.

That way you bring back the practical feature of the reaction score without bringing back the retardation that comes with people treating it as a dopamine generator. But again, this is my suggestion to implement something into XenForo, and all my suggestions to implement something into XenForo are gay and I'm a massive faggot for even suggesting anything.

You know you guys can bookmark threads and poosts, right? Not just in your browser but within KF itself

I am not apologizing for my laziness and need for the convenience sticker notifications give me.

I especially hate that watching threads is the only way to keep up with threads. I dislike that all my watched threads are on the front page with no way to minimize it.

This is such a non-issue that's now an issue. I don't a fuck about my sticker score. Just give me back instant notifications.
Here here! I am 100% down with what you said nigga
