Individuals who work with Sweet Baby Inc. have begun a harassment campaign against the creator of the Sweet Baby Inc. Detected Steam curator.

The curation page is intended to inform users whether a game has relied on Sweet Baby’s “narrative consultation” service.

Critics of Sweet Baby believe that their mission of promoting inclusivity is done at the expense of a game’s narrative quality. Meanwhile the Sweet Baby employees criticize the curator for being ideologically motivated against “woke ppl” and have mocked the curator’s attempts to legitimize their work by avoiding “loaded language” and instead focusing on informing consumers.

The employees in question, Chris Kindred and Felix Kramer have both mentioned the curator, meanwhile Kindred has encouraged their followers to mass flag the curator, as well as his personal Steam account (seemingly to punish him).




Kindred also claims that the curator runs afoul of Steam’s Code of Conduct which says “interactions should not be abusive, disparaging, or inflammatory, nor create an environment that is unwelcoming”. However as stated previously, the curator has been tidying up their page in order to focus on informing consumers.

Kramer on the other hand, accuses the curator of being able to arbitrarily list any game they want as being involved with Sweet Baby and questions its accuracy and legitimacy. However the tweet has since received a community note which explains the curator uses Sweet Baby’s own website as a resource. Man, I was there when all of the "gamers are dead" articles dropped all at once on various news publications. August 28th 2014 was the day these articles with similar titles & themes just dropped. It was a very weird coincidence.

I think I saw people talking about this. But I was kind of out of video games as a hobby. I didn't start to get back into it till 2015. By the time I did shit had changed and got all weird.

When you stop and consider it, that is literally the angle that they used originally, when this whole shitstorm was set up by Silverstring Media initially back when they tried to frame Anita Sarkeesian as "the monster gamers created," and set her up as a wedge issue to force the door with the help of their pet game journos: "Hire us to consult, you don't want to be seen as sexist, don't you?"

But a decade later, no one gives a solitary fuck what Journalists think, or about the optics. All this talk of GG reminds me of a bit of history some of us experienced as a consequence: moot being a cuck.

When GG broke out, /v was the place you could talk about it without much fear of moderation. Then, topics on the subject started getting pruned or outright deleted. If Sweet Baby disappeared today, the companies would be hiring someone else just like it to do the same thing; they're a symptom, not the disease. And they were better developed and more interesting characters, too. They had motivations and plot threads and they weren't just lazy stereotypes (I say just, they absolutely were playing into stereotypes but there was more to them and Rockstar didn't pretend it was trying to be progressive). And sure, Rockstar is depicting American culture, but it's still always got a Scottish sensibility about it all, it's a Scottish developer and that comes across in the work. It's not pretending it's more globohomo than it is.
These woke characters aren't characters, they're just tokens. It's a similar story with female characters: there's been loads of games with female characters who are well rounded, flawed and interesting and not just there to tick a box. Or Asian characters: I hardly think the Japanese, Korean or Chinese games industries are especially fussed about whether they represent races in their games. There's loads of foreign games about characters from their countries and inspired by their local folklore, culture and history, and it's more fun and immersive, because they're not stopping to explain shit or to show off their "inclusivity" and "representation", because it's just normal for them. These days I mostly play eastern European or southeast Asian games because of that. CDPR and 11 Bit do it well, it's unmistakably influenced by their actual local culture, they're not trying to represent what they don't really understand or are interested in.

So it's pretty easy to say that it is actively illegal for one of these game companies to not make woke garbage.

So when she says she's terrifying the teams, what she means is she's extorting them into giving SBI business at the threat of government force and civil litigation to shut them down permanently. That threat is very real.
