Steam's client is a bit shitty. It happened to me on an unrelated curator list I followed awhile back.

It's not the client, it's the servers. I opened it in my browser and the same thing happened. Steam client is just a glorified web browser.

I loathe the Steam client. It used to be so might lighter, but it has gone the way of the later-years PS3 PSN store, and became fat and bloated for no good reason. I still use it for games I want/have to play with friends, but otherwise I use cracks for games (or GOG offline installer versions) just to avoid launching that thing.
