The war on stickers is spreading to faraway lands. Once they are purged from over 1,100 kingdoms, will you no longer avert blame from those rat stickers?
Feels weird having to explain this but then - fish are the last to know about the water.
NULL, a wise man once said, "The Internet makes everyone autistic." After all, what's a sign of autism? Inability to read social cues. What does the Internet do? Remove all cues - just presents words. Example: When I use sarcasm, I mean the opposite of the words employed. How do you tell I'm being sarcastic? My tone of voice. So when I'm posting on the Internet, a sign I'm being sarcastic is....
(hint: why do you think gifs became stupid popular on tumblr and other forums?)
Stickers/Reactions on a forum are a
reverse of this. Another key point of human social interaction is reactions of the surrounding milieu. "Is anyone laughing at my joke? Is anyone heeding my point? Or are they taking my joke seriously and laughing at my seriousness?" Reaction stickers approximate this social feedback for humans meaning it actually
reduces autism on the Internet because people are starting to get that feedback they're used to - even if the points and stickers are totally meaningless they are useful for weighing the surroundings.
This is also why the reaction to Secret Watcher. While there's nothing logically wrong with his antics, feelings don't care about your logic. And to people's monkey brains, when they're talking on a thread and a sticker gets put on them by someone not participating, it FEELS like the equivalent if you were hanging out a club, talking with a bunch of friends and some stranger just ran up out of nowhere and shouted at you, "you talk like a faggot and your shit's all retarded!" then ran away.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk, now who's joining me for some blackjack with the hookers?
