It's really hard to tell when things like this kick off, since GamerGate itself only really happened in the coordinated response of multiple outlets screaming the same stupid article all at the same time. The true inciting incidents, which was Depression Quest being a shit 'game' that got awards it didn't deserve, wasn't even noticed by the majority of people who were involved in GG at the time.

And the mainstream media generally didn't even give a fuck about Gamergate until like, the bomb threat thing happened. There was that laughable Gamergate episode on CSI or whatever, and some of the anti-GG people got interviews (including Quinn at the UN with a shockingly incompetent paper that cited crap on her harddrive with direct address links). If anything, the media is going to try and squash this like it generally does with anything challenging the woke messaging - anybody remember that one troon shooter from last year at the Covenant school and how absolutely HARD that shit got buried even though there were leaked pics of the manifesto?

Copyright law goes to federal court. You cannot sue someone over copyright in state court.

And yeah they haven't gotten precedent but in nearly all legal cases a settlement is the preferred outcome because it saves the cost of lawyers and court fees and the risk of losing. More importantly they don't need precedent; the law is very clear that piracy is not legal and circumventing or facilitating circumventing the DMCA is not legal. They turn a blind eye to most of it, only really doing anything when it gets egregious or at a mass scale.

Do you really think it'd be that hard to get rid of every rom site hosting Nintendo stuff if they really wanted to? Make a list and DMCA takedown it to Google, their web infrastructure, and cogent and it's gone. They don't because it doesn't really matter.

Which would drive up food prices as well, all whilst people's incomes stayed the same. They had peaceful protests that, the former president at the time, was eager to hold an open line of contact with rather than escalating the situation. But then some pro EU basically ordered the use of force upon the protestors.
