Duke Nukem 3D and its expansions were so good that people actually bought Duke Nukem Forever after 20 years of development hell. Any and all references to Duke in modern culture are from Duke3D Duke Nukem, which includes the voice lines that ripped off Army of Darkness (game recognizes game fr fr no cap).

Duke Nukem 3D is a Build Engine game released by 3D Realms after DOOM and DOOM II defined what first person shooters should look like, and how they should play. The Build Engine is a lot like the DOOM Engine in that its not real "3D" but based on sprites, except you can now jump, fly, and swim, which were a "big deal" at the time. Duke3D took all of the additions of the Build engine, and then added gibbs and titties, which is an undefeated VideoGame combo, imho, and then set the game in Los Angeles instead of Mars and Hell.

The other games aren't worthy of note, other than being early PC era platformers in the vein of Commander Keen.

Edit: The early PC platformers weren't "bad", so much as "not as good" as ANYTHING that was available on the SNES or Genesis at the time. I say this as someone who lived (and played vidya... a lot) through that era.

Duke Nukem II is a fun game and Dook3D was hijacked by soyboys and flag generator tier weirdos years ago, I see someone say they play Duke II and I get a mental image of a dude that repairs motorcycles, I see someone say they play Dook3D and I get mental images of that fucking LGR dumbass.
