Sweet Baby Inc. and the Steam Curator Group Conspiracy - The company that is responsible for the diarrheic video game writing.

This is why my main point AGAINST PC Master race when they come at me with the "Well consoles only get to play 10-20 games and PC get access to thousands" is:

"Nigga, you can only play one game a time."
I can only use 1 golf club at a time but if I dont bring a whole bag of them I will get laughed of the green.

Sometimes i buy too many games during steam sales and never get around to some $4.99 indy I picked up but I consider that charity. I haven't bought an AAA at anywhere near full price since AC6 and I would argue that is actually a double A game... oh and Forza but that's a whole other dissapointing mess that has nothing to do with narrative.

The original games SBI worked on don't look offensive. There's nothing wrong with a side-scroller in a mythical African setting, or a black monster hunter set in the old South (at least from the trailer it looks pretty slick). Go for it.
Red Dead style open world game where you are an African tribesmen capturing other tribesmen in battle and selling them to the Dutch for riffles, rinse and repeat. Make all the good guys black, put all the tearjerking, remorseful, human suffering and shit you want in, it will only make it better. It would fly off the shelves.

They don't want real settings though, they want BK kids club, NYC subway demographics in medieval Europe bullshit.

I've taken a gander at GamerGate General, and I'm surprised at how on-topic they've been since this started.
Acidman, the site's owner and GG veteran, said he is reaching out to people he knows. He seems full of energy and planning something big.
This could get spicy, lot of resentment over there. It will be interesting to see old faces surface up in general and give us their two cents.

I hope that gamers (gamers!) do not stop at destroying Sweet Baby Inc, but move against this entire ideological protection racket that has been ruining video games since...

...Since the time of Gamergate itself, eerily enough.

The subversives never left after GG1, they became entrenched in the game industry itself instead of just in games journalism. So the video game industry needs another collapse. It's had them before, and the shakeups made things better.

I don't think there's any offensive attack to make here, like there was going after journo's advertisers before. The power is passive: simply don't buy new games. They aren't gambling their online reputation and a dinky blog any more, they're gambling million dollar productions that need to hit high sales metrics to keep going.

All you have to do is close your wallet, open up your Steam library, and start playing through your backlog. Or break out the old console and pick up used discs. Or sail the seven seas. If something exceptional comes out that can make your point (like Helldivers 2), maybe support that, but purchases should become the exception rather than the rule.

KF"s motto is to sit back and laugh. Ridicule is extremely effective; and passivity in an industry that requires active fandom is extremely effective.

What ‘harassment’ has even occured?
As long as your side has the media and the power to cherry pick, you can always find a tard or two posting death threats, or post your own if need be. Alyssa is trying.

As much as they may want it, we're not yet a post-capitalist society, and money still talks. SBI's protection racket is the same as all "sensitivity readers" and relies on the narrative that this is what the customer wants. Steam has about 60 million daily active users, and that group grew to 240k members after a few days, not to mention anyone who can't join for fear of being harassed by "friends"/etc.

That's only 0.41% -- even less if you compare to Steam's monthly daily users, total users, etc, but it is one of the largest curator groups on steam. I would also speculate that, like most things, the power law applies to Steam so something like (made up numbers to illustrate) 10% of the users buy 90% of the games, which helps a bit.

That's probably too low to work as a "quiet" boycott where they just don't buy the games. It still might have an impact if there was a fear it would go viral with the big streamers, but we're not seeing that and we probably won't -- that's the point of labelling it as a harassment campaign, to target and destroy anyone with influence who touches it. At best, this is another log coming loose in the dam.

Even then, at least some ability to organize is necessary -- SBI is just one company, and it's not enough to make that one brand toxic, Gamers (tm) would need to make their entire ecological niche poison. Curated lists can do that, but people need to hear about them and need to believe they represent their views. Absent that, the technique can just be subverted.

It sucks, but their control of media and social media gives them a lot of power to make a small group seem big or vice-versa. There's a limit to that though, and we do seem to be seeing a pendulum swing against this culture war bullshit/DEI/etc. Hoping for the best, but I'm not optimistic. About all we can do is turn on, tune in, drop out.

Their "laugh at them" and "Don't act like them. Be better tactics" sure worked well when the far left and sjws would push the envelop further, even sacrificing their own sheep for the goals. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. Fuck G&G.
This is why I have nothing but contempt for people like them. They are the typical "fence sitters" in a battle that there has no more room for fence sitters. And they insist to have talking points that "centrists can still be around". I will conceed for one point - sure. Everyone can enjoy.

Yet they should look at what is going on. DEI has openly declared war, in a subtle fashion, akin to Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals" type of manner. And they are glee on things, especially on comments. Examples would include on videos like Rings of Power, where you'd have: "I'm a LGBT queer black and I love LOTR as it is!!!". No. The correct manner of reply to these idiots would be to tell them to "dude, shut the fuck up. This isn't the point" It is clearly white (specifically white men) erasure, not only in fiction, but on job and employment - which affects real people's lives. And yes, I am talking about WHITES, something no one talks about. Everyone talks about Blacks, Latinos, Asians but never about Whites."

How can libertarianism triumph that? "A company will open a market for audiences to choose for better products, and thus competition for good products, such as Eric July's Rippaverse triumph." Truly? Well, what stops a conglomerate to buy Eric July or maybe make him run out of business? I'm not even inserting anything government related here. It shows how they don't have solutions for a problem, and they ae just grifters who deserve contempt.

But that's the only conception I will give to them. They deserve the enemies they get, but I feel we are more than able to confront them.

Has anyone even mentioned how baffling it is that she blames Kiwi Farms for this?
just like with the Keffals situation, Kiwi Farms is a better target to attribute something negative to because you can preemptively poison the well by suggesting GG2.0 is being resurrected by people who are most notable for dawxing and having several Wikipedia-verified kills.

that article wouldn't raise as much hoopla or concern if it had to reference the fucking Steam discussion boards for instance which has been rife with sperging about DEI consultancy bullshit long before this thread was a thing.

'vote with your wallet' and 'the market will fix it' are memes.
this stuff works with physical products and commodities that are easily interchangible and subject to real competition. don't like the beer brewery, buy from the other brewery instead, the beer tastes almost the same anyway.

doesnt work like that with entertainment media, due to a variety of reasons, one of which is IP.
"dont like disney star wars? just get star wars from another company instead" doesn't apply because only one company can legally make star wars content.
and even beyond IP stuff, you run into a similar problem as you do in politics - "just go to the competition" is not an option when the 'competition' is doing all the same shit, and any outside competition that would not do this same shit is subject to getting bought out, coerced to fall in line, or destroyed by the incumbent powers.

This is because publicly traded company (which all AAA video games are) have DEI incentives in regards to evaluation of their stock value, and stock selling for higher is good for their bottom line since it gives them more working capital. This effectively counteracts any sort of grassroots protests.

I think with movements like this it's really important to emphasize what the competition is rather than what to avoid. Don't want to be a whinging black lady in Alan Wake 2? Try xxx.

I put together a new PC a month ago and pirated a bunch of the big-name games of the last few years to test things out. Holy SHIT, they're so boring.

I kinda regret even building the thing because I'm already right back to playing old games and emulation on it.
Yep, still useful for high end emulation, and old games with tons of mods and shaders running on top.

If your reflexive response to Star Wars being bad is not "stop buying Star Wars products", you're an embarrassing manchild.

They cried about Kiwi Farms making fun of them earlier(?), posting one user's avatar in-thread, but I can't find more info as the posts have been deleted. Other than that it's actual on-topic discussions for the first time in what feels like years. I suggest if anybody lurking needs a place to discuss this topic or wants to regroup/plan ops, this would be the best place to do so as the admin/board owner are oldschool Gamergaters(and drama faggots, but there is an entire topic to talk about that)
Oh, they are also sitting on top of a goldmine of old GG1 infographics and lore/drama, so if you want to educate yourself, feel free to ask them.
Sweet Baby don't have an entry on Encyclopedia Dramatica yet, let's wait and see how long before they post one. :story:
ED cucked out, not even mentioning that they barely holding the site together they have removed Tarrant's infamous video from it's page when their host told them to. If there is pressure applied to them, they will fold, I believe their ancient subreddit has been taken down recently too.

A game is a complete product. (most of the time....) It is all you need to play a video game. Golf requires several clubs. You cannot play with just one. Your metaphor doesn't work.

Great, but again, rate of consumption against time. If we both set out on console and PC to complete a list of 5 games each, we'll both get done around the same time and if more new games we want to play release by then, you having access to a bigger library ultimately means nothing. All it ultimately is, is a waste of money. Buying games you will never play is a waste of money. A video game you never play doesn't count for anything. It's not a bragging point, it's a file taking up space. It's not charity. It's reckless spending. Buying 100+ games, makes you a consoomer. You'll never play them all. If you do play them all, chances are you have no life.

Either way, the claim Pc Gaming is better because "you access to a library of 1000 games" is fucking retarded. The only reason PC gaming is better is performance and graphics. And if you don't care about either of those things, then a console is a better choice for you.
