Step 2: obtain something that can be used as lethal weapons such as guns, knives, bricks, baseball bats, vehicles, explosives, etc

Step 3: at the predetermined trigger/time begin killing as many Americans as you can until you are stopped.
Step 3a: If near an important trade, communications, utilities, or financial center; attempt to disable and destroy it

After that several cities are enough of a powder keg that spontaneous rioting and looting may occur, causing even more damage and injuries.

I don't see how such a plan would be easily stopped, aside from drastic measures such as closing the border and finding and deporting illegals. You can't even warn people to evacuate cities or take away from the people anything that could be weapons, as that would trigger riots on their own and may make the attack happen sooner. The terrorists don't need an elaborate shared plan, just an agreement of when to attack or what the signal to attack is (possibly July 4th?). Any that end up together could make up a plan on the fly to cause more violence.

Unless that plane was brand new, that’s likely to be the result of the airline skimping on maintenance. Boeing is taking a lot of blame for problems that aren’t their fault.
