you'd be surprised at the tolerance i have for a lot of the stuff here. im convinced most people here will act like snowflakes at mild shit and be put off from a game just for that, no matter how minor.
You're a member of a forum that exists to scrutinize hundreds of nobodies that exist on the internet who no one even knows personally irl. It's a gossip site, and I'm not criticizing this forums existence. People have fun here doing this, laughing and cringing at unusual people and total freaks.
Most of the time, people document the most minor minutiae of these people's lives for the sake of completion and because people find it either fun or interesting.
This is a subforum dedicated to games. It's not surprising or unusual that people who are passionate about games would discuss in detail things about the industry that they find dumb, appalling, and counterproductive to the quality of the products as of late and the dumb decisions certain companies are making in current year.
Sure, some of it is bitching about the situation, a lot of it is insightful criticism, but most of all, it's people having fun discussing a hobby they enjoy by rating current year games that add shitty, current year nonsense for no good reason at all besides showing how "compassionate" and "supportive of diversity" they are to placate the loud idiots who make a big deal about this type of dumb stuff online.
You can disagree with some opinions people have about games, and think their issues are overstated and minor, but don't come in here and act like none of what's being said is accurate. I don't agree with each and every opinion I've read, for instance, I think Baldurs Gate 3 rules and despite the gay shit they added, I don't think it detracts from the experience and I didn't feel like it was rubbed in your face in a preachy, unnatural way. It felt like it fit in a fantasy world with magic, monster people, and angels and devils living amongst mortals.
But some people think the game sucks and went way overboard with all of that type of stuff, and that's fine. It's their opinion and they have a right to it. Don't mean you have to agree, but it comes accross as kinda douchy to come to a thread where people are having a fun little discussion about games and just act like you're too cool and so open minded that you can't even fathom anyone having a problem with some of the dumb shit people notice in a hobby their enjoy.
He's just a flamboyant showman. Those have always been around - Siegfried & Roy; Elton John; Liberace; Richard Simmons. Simmons isn't even gay, and he definitely isn't woke. He's just flamboyant and upbeat, always trying to make people smile and feel great. Sylvando is Richard Simmons.
Well, someone's catty. You should tag me if you want to insult me.
He's flamboyant and a comic relief character, but they never out and out show him being a faggot, lusting after men, or flirting with the MC or anyone else. He's more a feminine, flamboyant, circus entertainer type of character than a homosexual.
Sure, his lispy voice is clearly meant to sound like a flamboyant homosexual, but I respect the fact that they kept his sexuality nonexistent rather than making it a big part of his personality. If it was a western made game, he'd have a husband or a boyfriend, he'd be reminded you in every conversation how much he loves men and cock, he'd have some kind of conflict with evil homophobic characters, and of course, he'd be a possible romance-able companion for the MC.
I agree with
@Pissmaster DQ11 is not a woke game. It's good, wholesome, classic jrpg fun without any modern, woke sensibilities. Possibly, one could argue that giving Sylvando a flamboyant lisp in the English version gives it a slightly woke rating, but I'd personally disagree since it's not once mentioned that he has any interest, sexually, in men. (Though I admit, the parade with all the men wearing feathers and Mardi Gras like costumes was a bit gay). Thankfully, it wasn't meant to be some kind of gay pride parade, it was merely Sylvando using his upbeat personality to cheer up a sad population who just experienced a near apocalypse.
@Pissmaster I think I remember years ago you were thinking about getting DQ11 but were kind of on the fence about it. I remember telling you (at least I think it was you) to get it cuz it's worth it if you were in the mood for a long, classic, jrpg that's more akin to the older games from the 90s but with some modern conveniences.
I'm guessing you ended up getting it. Did you think it was a worthy purchase?
