Completed Knuckles Chaotix yesterday. Its not that bad of a game, the ring mechanic isn't that bad, its actually fun with how janky it can be.

The levels were a bit garish though. It's as if they tried to use every single colour in the 32x palette and all the levels merged into psychadelic slop.
I actually really enjoyed Chaotix, but you're right in it feels like they were trying to show off with the absurd colours and 3d elements.

I like the ring mechanic a lot and kind of think they had something cool there even if it really needed to be refined further. People will rag on about it not being very good, but I think it was a solidly mid sonic game at worst.

Oh, I also think the music in Chaotix was pretty good too.

The music was good, the game felt "packed" though loads of unecessary stuff.
At least the 32x got what could be called a sonic title. I remember being so excited for sonic xtreme im an old cunt

I don't remember that far back, my experience with Chaxotix was years later and honestly the worst part of playing it was the 32x, but by that point it was old and all those connection points were...not doing so hot so I can forgive the system.

I didn't even learn xtreme was supposed to have been a thing until I was reading some form posts as a teen years ago.

Steam recommended me "The murder of sonic" or something and well I didn't look into it too much it looks like either just a visual novel, or maybe something Ace Attorney-ish? The art I saw was actually a pretty nice style so I installed it, but haven't played.

Any thoughts here on if it's worth my time or not?

I played a few minutes of it, it's okay. It's supposedly short so it should be a minimal investment in any case. I do vaguely remember some mild woke elements, but otherwise it was well received.

So it's just the video game adaptation of the novel Murder on the Orient Express but with Sonic characters

It’s a 30 minute visual novel that was made as an April Fools joke. If you like Sonic go for it, it’s pretty cute

I like Ian's character writing, but yeah the references can get a bit much sometimes.
Even in his Mega Man comics, he mentioned in an "ask the editor" thing that he was doing it frequently enough that that higher-ups told him to tone it down. I don't really follow the comics but that was in one of the few issues I owned.

Emerald Spears feels like a forced name, but I'm an apologist for the Ruby-Spears series so it's possible I'm biased.

Probably the best april fools thing SEGA's ever signed off on. Definitely worth a playthrough.

It's a neat 2-hour diversion with some nice art, story, and music, but if you're expecting something on-par with Ace Attorney, you're going to be disappointed.

theres some very basic gameplay in the form of minigames but yeah its basically a VN. nothing truly groundbreaking in terms of writing, but its cute. I think its worth giving a go. Came in at just under 2 hours for me when I played it too. I certainly don't remember anything "woke" about it
