Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

One can clearly see the influence Star Wars had on DBZ. The Freeza Force/Cold Family Empire is literally the anime superhero version of the Galactic Empire, just as Zeon was the giant robot version of the Empire. Hell, before the retcon with Dragon Ball Super Broly, Goku's father was a brutal, world-conquering monster with innocent blood on his hands, just like Luke's father.

Whereas in the Ahsoka show, the New Republic won't believe Hera Syndulla despite them losing a whole warship's crew that imprisoned one of Thrawn's friends, and the fucking hyperspace ring on Seatos.
Then she dusobeys direct orders, gets some people killed, and insuts her superiors, and just gets away with it because connections. If they were trying to show off a nepo baby being given a free pass, what would they have done differently?

Star Wars (like a lot of sci fi) has a poor grasp of the nuts and bolts of military operations. Which is fine when your protagonists are a scrappy group of rebels who need to get by with whatever they have, but is a massive glaring problem qhen they're supposed to be running the galaxy with any degree of competence.

Hell, Filoni Wars demonized the Jedi Council for the crime of.......*GASP*.......allowing one of their own to be tried as a common citizen of the Republic.

It's like Filoni doesn't like it if his heroes aren't given the nepo baby treatment. The Jedi were in the wrong......for letting Ahsoka's accusers try her in court? Where she still had rights as a citizen and even a defense attorney? At that point, any accusations of the Jedi being corrupt fly out the window. They're willing to let one of their own, one of their best, be tried on court because she assaulted the cops when they thought she was sus.

It depends, a lot of the old EU has a good grasp on the nuts and bolts of military operations, especially books like the Imperial Sourcebook. Also, the NR is supposed to be incompetent, because they're building it up to the Sequel Trilogy to explain why the First Order rises to the point they did.

I Hope you all don’t mind me sharing this cringe RPG podcast ran by middle age cows. The episode supposed to be about west end game Star Wars. They barely talk how West End Game Star Wars is played beyond Ghostbusters the role-playing game with more rules. Then the podcast devolved into a weird rant about Star Wars being better than Star Trek because Star Wars is more pro-multicultural while Star Trek is pro-segregation because the federation and Klingon empire still had boarders and didn't merge into a single galactic government. They also hate Deep Space Nine for racism existing. Around 21:00 they went on a typical rant about how Star Wars fans are racist and sexist babies and Disney's best thing to happen to the Star Wars rant. Yes they, with zero irony, cry about the Cis White male and argue black people and women didn't like Star Wars before Disney. The top most voted comment is a fan calling them out on the woke rant.

West End Games' SW RPG is far older and has a way more storied history. Hell, their RPG sourcebooks which became the backbone of the Thrawn trilogy are older than most fans today.

Wow, that misses the mark completely. I mean, I have my own reasons for believing that Star Wars is better than Star Trek, but that's more because Trek's message after TOS just doesn't jive with me, and the fact that they rely too much on technobabble and don't really impress me enough on the battles department. But Trek's society is far more liberal than SW's. Even though the Klingons haven't merged with the Federation government, its people can serve within Federation ranks, and its government is far more liberal and goes with ''THE MESSAGE'' than the Empire or the Republic do; the Empire is a centralized authoritarian state, the Republic is basically a free-market government with all its benefits and flaws. Both are led by a religious caste of warriors, the Sith and the Jedi, who enjoy the support of the state and who brainwash others into their way of thinking.

The fact that they think Disney's the best thing to happen to SW shows that they are casual fans at best; the SWEU was the best thing to happen to the franchise outside of the movies and it had a wider, more diverse range of stories than what we got now. Also, there were more than enough blacks and female fans of SW before the Disney buyout; some female fans even saw Anakin the same way the Reylos saw Kylo Ren.

I know the mouse is just desperate for money but the og battlefront remake coming out Thursday is the most hyped I've been for star wars in forever
I think it's really funny and revealing how the trailer is done almost exactly like trailers were Star Wars games were announced back in thevearly 2000s and it's the most hype thing ever.

Disney and the modern industry will never understand how easy it is to please gamers. That's why they keep investing in walking simulators.

I just must comment real quick on the hypocrisy around lightsaber stabs.

The same retarded cattle that shouts "WHERE ARE HER ORGANS" when they see a drawn sexy hourglass shaped female are the same people who rush to try to excuse Reva and Sabine's torso stabs as "it didnt hit anything vital". Yeah, sure, as if a small plasma circle entering your torso wouldnt instantly vaporize your insides and fry the surroundings. If you didnt instantly die, you would die like Qui Gon did, on the ground in agony as your body is in pure shock and dying from the catastrophic damage.

I would ask if they failed biology class but given these are ALSO the same people that thought a mask would stop a virus, I guess I shouldnt be surprised.

And when you point all of this out of them, they resort into the old classic "its fiction, relax" or something. That is an admission that Star Wars doesnt even make sense anymore within its own internal logic. I dont mind when sci-fi or fantasy doesnt make too much sense IRL as long they follow an internal logic that is tied enough to the real world that you dont mind. Its an admission that Star Wars doesnt mean anything but what is on the surface.

Even when it comes from the horses mouth, I sincerely doubt it. A 10 year old being mocked by thousands of fully grown adults wouldn't grow up to make good choices.

I think its a Chris Chan situation, the mockery absolutely didnt help but this shit would happen one way or the other.

i did see some people on tumblr tarding about luke NEEDING to be gay and how IMPORTANT it would be if he's gay.

Because Legends Luke was a chadster that redeemed and married his once assassin and brought a new golden age for the Jedi Order for many decades. He even became officially the most powerful Jedi that was and the closest thing to a fulfilled Chosen One.

So, like everything in the cultural revolution of maoism, the hero needs to be brought down and constantly humiliated. They did already establish that Luke was a failure in restoring the Jedi order, he fucked off to legit fucking die instead of trying to do something to help his own flesh and blood and died from using the force too hard. They might as well make him gay and confirm he did suck more than gross alien tits in TLJ. And everything he ever was ended being stolen by Rey PALPATINE.

Games can be art...but games dont need it all the time. All you need is to be fun first and anything else that comes along is a bonus.

Silent Hill 2 IS art...but you know, it is an actual fun and scary game to play first of all.

Consider the Klingons only began to work with the federation when their homeworld was literally dying and only had a decade or two left before it couldnt sustain life anymore. They had to give up their pride and ask for help, with that said, Klingons still made it clear that their culture and customs shall remain, maintening their independence. The Klingons would rather die than to give up all about their empire and society.

Star Trek 6 handled the topic with maturity, they even had Spock, a non human or Klingon, handling a good chunk of the negociations to keep the procedure as unbiased as possible for both sides. At the end, Klingons kept their empire but ended with a proper alliance with the federation, ceasing open hostilities. It was meant to be the end of an era towards the Undiscovered Country (aka the future).

To compare the mature writing of S.T 6 and modern S.T or even modern fiction as a whole is a tragedy...

Jake Lloyd's mom did an interview
apparently him going nuts had exactly jack and shit to do with Ep 1 and its dislike, he's really just schizo
Frankly the whole "he went crazy because of muhrassment by nerd manbabies" narrative with him never made much sense given how this was the pre social media era, wherin the only way said evil and hateful nurd hordes could voice their antipathy towards him would be on online forums far too obscure for a kid in the early 00s to stumble across, and which he would have to straight up search for in order to get muhrassed, or by mailing angry letters en masse to some publicly available but still relatively obscure PO box the old fashioned away. And unless he had literally the shittest parents on the planet, he sure as shit was not the one opening and reading every single letter and would have almost certainly only been given messages that were super positive.

The past ten years of trying to spin "people saying you suck ass on the internet" as the modern day version of lynching (unless its against people I hate, in which case its awesome and hilarious and they should straight up be doxed and hunted down IRL) is already a patently retarded attempt to silence deserved criticism for shitty products and behavior in the day and age where it can 100% be ignored just by basic managing of social media, but becomes exponentially more fucking stupid when you try to backdate it to an age before social media was ubiquitous

To be fair I'm willing to give idiots like that some leeway because lightsabers always functioned essentially like fancy science-fiction swords instead of realistic weapons that should theoretically cause people to blow up from the inside after getting stabbed. And Qui-Gon surviving for so long always seemed retarded to me even as a kid because the movie clearly shows Darth Maul stabbing him in the center of the chest AKA where the heart is generally located so Qui-Gon should've died pretty much instantly. Although that's probably accidental where they didn't account for the massive height difference between Liam Neeson and Ray Park making their aim a bit off during fight choreography.

I think the only hateful comments came from the media. It's the same tactic they used on Ahmed Best. They claimed that the SW fans harassed him and pushed him to near suicide except that most of this shit was posted on those glorified blogs like Gawker.

That, and most of the people who went after Jake Lloyd were the critic types who hated the kid for playing as kid Anakin. Whenever you hear negative reviews of TPM, they usually mention how they fucking hate the kid who played Anakin. The average fan didn't give a crap about him because they were too distracted by the cool lightsaber fights and sci-fi battles to care.

Jake Lloyd's Anakin is about as far removed from the OT's Darth Vader as Jake Skywalker of TLJ is from the OT's Luke Skywalker.

Darth Vader was a force reckoned with and they turned him into a wimp through the PT.
Luke Skywalker was a force to be reckoned with and they turned him into a wimp through the ST.

No matter what anyone does, they will never be able to reach or match the OT. Not even George Lucas himself.
