It's not like I'm not watching the latest game trailers or promotional material, it's just that everything either looks like a game I already own/have played or just looks so fucking un-fun. Alan Wake 2 looks like a boring version of RE4, Baldies Gate 3 looks like a friendless loser's idea of what real DnD must be like, and Suicide Squad is just the next iteration on Borderlands.
This SBI stuff pisses me off because it's like they're devoting all this corporate energy to writing their preferred storylines but then the games aren't even fun or original. Everybody regardless of their skin color is rejecting Woke Kombat 1 because it's unplayable garbage with a shit awful meta (it's literally poking, assist spam, and throws right now), and Ed Boon shoved all kinds of slimy live service monetization. Evo 2024 got announced with Woke Kombat 1 being one of the big games, yet it had less participants than Third Strike, a 25 year-old game. Hell, Brazil had one of it's biggest tourneys with $10k on the line, but only 69 people entered. This was before we found out Sweet Baby Inc touched MK1.

I heard recently that WB looked at the success of Harry Potter, and the failure of Suicide Squad, and decided that what games want is more Suicide Squad type games.

As someone who recently got a rig himself, I actively can & can't run DD2 at the same time. I have a 32GB RAM & a 1TB SSD, but this'll still make my PC shit itself cause I have an old Radeon 570 (not to be confused with 5700, I brought that 570 brand new once, it's was a budget beast at the time) & a Ryzen 5 5500.

In which world are things like i9/Ryzen 9, & RTX 4080/Radeon 7900 a "recommend choice" instead of a maximum one is beyond me. It's like the basic skill of size compression & lower-end comparability has become a lost art or something.

I was going to replay them but I'm pretty sure I had hacked versions with no level limits per game, I want to find them.

They have them on gog, they've been sitting in my library forever and I have to revisit them.

There's also the Buck Rogers ones, which have almost nothing to do with buck rogers and is a reskin of AD&D into a raygun gothic sci-fi adventure. I think I read somewhere it was going to be a tabletop product by TSR that got shuttered but they coded a video game anyway. It has a multitude of weapons and classes, a giant skill based system and actual spaceship combat. It does all of these better than Starfield.

Those games were pretty niche even back then but it would be pretty great to see a niche group of zoomers find them or something in a similar genre and lean to enjoy them. If they get mad enough about AAA bullshit they might just do that.
