"Girls like me" :story: and then he just still sounds like a man with an high-pitched voice that's been autotuned to the max.
If this played in a supermarket somewhere and they didn't recognize it absolutely nobody would think that this was being sung by a woman, though they might be confused as to why this man is singing about being a girl.

There was a troon that competed two years in a row in my country's version of the ESC (Tone Sekelius) and sang about being "her", but he still sounded completely indistinguishable from a "normal" male pop star even the second year he competed – this is on the same level of uncanniness

If Dylan wants an answer as to why troons aren’t getting cast in Broadway shows more often, this is why. Whenever he tries to sing in a woman’s range, it doesn’t sound right, and it would be very annoying to try and drastically change the notes of songs to suit him. Additionally, HRT just really messes with the vocal cords (more so women than men), and trying to cast him as a guy would be seen as “transphobic.” Congratulations Dylan, you’ve pigeonholed yourself into only a stunt cast if you ever get on Broadway again.

It’s appalling to me that a post about National Women’s Day by Dylan Mulvaney and me would be met with such vitriol and hatred. When I see a newspaper reporting on hatred but calling it “backlash” I feel it is important to clarify that hatred is hatred, and this kind of hatred is violence. “Backlash” would imply that people who love or respect Dylan and me didn’t like something we did. This is not backlash. This is hatred.
But it is not surprising given the immense work that it’s obvious we still have to do as a society to make room for transgender lives to be cherished and upheld by all of us. I feel very protective in this moment, not only of Dylan, but of the trans community who continues to lead the way with their endless grace and inspiration in the face of constant degradation, intolerance, and physical, verbal, and mental violence. I certainly do not speak for this community, but I have something to say. I hope all women will come together to honor us ALL for International Women’s Day, and may we do that always until THE DAY that all women are celebrated equally. That all people are celebrated equally. A day where people of all gender identities are celebrated on whichever holiday speaks to them. Because people of all gender identities and races deserve peace and dignity.
May we all come together and be loving, accepting, warm, welcoming. May we all stand and honor the complexity and challenge of trans life—that we do not know, but can seek to understand and have compassion for. I love people too much to allow hatred to be referred to as “backlash.” People deserve better.

At the rate this is going, I'm not going to be shocked if we end up with a Gaga cameo in his terrible single's music video (although I'd assume she's not going to sing, given the clearly low production values on that snippet). Dylan's cargo-culting a music career in that he keeps dropping songs with music videos, but without the bit where people want to listen to them, they're just more elaborate social media posts.

Yep. Even Dimash Qudaibergen, who has a wide range - Si0 to Re8 - doesn't sound like a woman in the higher octaves. In whistle register he still sounds like the man that he is. Example on YT Same for Vitas Grachov: Example on YT

Both gay, IMHO, though closeted because a Muslim Kazakh or Russian working in Russia and China damn well better be.

Him doing a duet with Chris Colfer just shows how much he can’t sing well, especially when he tries to make it sound “womanly.” Dylan should really just stick to solos, as he gets mogged by the people he duets with. Dylan would sound better if he embraced his natural voice, but his natural voice sounds like man, so that isn’t happening, and tries to settle with sounding like a man impersonating a woman (which sounds worse).
