Will Stancil has had his launch party:

And confirms his campaign strategy of endlessly repeating "orange man bad".

But don't think this is an amateurish campaign!

Just look at his campaign manager:

And in the most shocking news of all, Will Stancil actually made a statement I agree with:

I had an ex-girlfriend, and I'd drive her crazy because I would tell her: "I really think if you could get in their heads, you could shift it! That if enough people change the headlines, you could change everything." She was like, "This is this crazy, kooky theory of yours..."

This is fucking brilliant, Stancil. The kind of insight no one has ever had. If you "change the headlines" you can actually mold peoples' opinions. Fucking A. Literally the first politico to try and control the press and it's about time.

This guy is THE archetypal libtard. There are dead people more self aware than him .

The oddest thing about Stancil is he seems less interested in arguing with online racists as much as he is in telling leftists how amazing Joe Biden is.

What is this tendency you see to just fanatically defer to the establishment? It’s a phenomenon I’ve noticed online amongst a lot of centrists and “muh data” sorts-“I reject the right and the left, I support the neoliberal center-gay rights and Amazon fulfillment factories, this is truly the best human society could ever be!”

What causes this sort of behavior? Is it status signaling? Or some sort of petty performative sadism?

He is an idiot and can't win a debate or an argument. He perpetually puts his foot in his mouth, hence why he gets dunked on by everyone from tankies to alt right anime freaks.

I think Stancil, like many other centrists, simply outsources his thinking to NPR / NYT journalist "experts," thus unquestioningly consuming the optimist-flavored Kool-Aid. My reading of the (more normal) left is that they are at best fair-weather Biden supporters, meaning that they think Biden's doing an okay job and is therefore preferable to mango man (saving democracy / abortion rights playing into this reasoning as well).

It's always an appeal to authority. Stancil et al would love to live in a system where "scientists" rule the world, completely unaware that research has its own internal politics and real life activists, too.

I don’t think it’s so much science worship, as much as Stancil and people like him either genuinely believe current institutions produce the best outcomes, or that any alternative to the current order is either immoral or politically fantastical.

The constant reference to science and data is not so much glorifying science as a methodology as much as saying “the current system is rational, and has experts and makes the numbers, if you disagree you’re either stupid, evil or a malcontent”.

Stancil’s arguments against the left boil down to “realism dawg, you guys are just unaware of the nuts and bolts of political reality, also Trump is bad”

And his arguments against the right don’t even reach the level of “here’s why liberal sacred cows are good” so much as “if you oppose them or think them false you are a bad person”*

*Stancil doesn’t have any deep ideological commitment to blank slate theory, or egalitarianism, he believes in them genuinely the way you believe any dominant idea, but he’s not interested or capable in making a moral argument for why infinity browns is good beyond mall cafeterias.

Stancil’s argument against the left seems to lean more on “the system actually works you see, and you’re just a bunch of malcontents who are duped by media negativity”

One of the most wholesome phenomena in online politics is when everyone from hitlerites to anarkiddies, and everything in between, come together to dunk on retarded neolibs.

He is your typical highly educated individual who chose to specialize in an insanely obscure, tiny area of expertise, and whom assumes this expertise carries over to all fields.

He would unironically tell you how to raise your kids, even though he is an incel.

I think it was mentioned in the Guide to Britain thread but iirc over there some of the main supporters of the establishment are what’s known as the “laptop class”, which is basically a group of upper-middle to upper class midwits who have jobs that rely on the current establishment and economic situation remaining the same. Any significant change to the system will result in this class’s outright extinction or worse, having to get an actual useful job. I imagine Stancil is something like this but for the U.S.
