Dobson's problem ultimately is taking criticism not as a personal attack. Other artists would kill for another artist showing them that they use too many lines. If he would just ask someone something like "Hey how can I improve this?" and be willing to learn from his mistakes, he would already be a very good artist, probably even able to live off his art.
Well, criticism of Dobson's art is usually tied in with a personal attack... it's just the way things are nowadays. However this is a direct result of Dobson's shitty attitude towards benevolent criticism in the past and how he dealt with it, say, on dA.
People have been politely and respectfully giving him constructive criticism and Dobson always blew a fuse and insulted them. If they weren't artists, he told them they didn't know what they were talking about. When they were artists (but worse than Dobby), he'd tell them their opinions were meaningless since they were inferior to him and in no position to criticise him. If they were better, he accused them of kicking down aspiring artists and disregarded their recommendations.
Also "you're just jealous!" was a favorite defensive mechanism of his.
People eventually got fed up with this shit. If you're going to be antagonized by the Dob for pointing out that "hands don't work that way" no matter how polite, respectful and nice you are, you might as well point out the flaws and just laugh at him.
When every little attempt to help him improve his art is met with vitriol, you might as well just hoot and howl while his career slowly crumbles for all the many flaws in his art that you pointed out years ago.
You reap what you sow and Dobby has been sowing for the better part of a decade... though he could still get his shit together if he would just, for once, show actual signs of
effort.
