RIA news agency said at least three people in camouflage clothing had opened fire at the Crocus City Hall, and that some people had been wounded.

Police had arrived at the scene, RIA said.

Video footage published on Russian social media channels showed chaotic scenes, with a large crowd of concertgoers attempting to flee the hall, followed by gunshots.

Other video footage showed a number of people lying motionless in pools of blood outside the hall

Reuters was unable immediately to verify the footage.

TASS news agency reported an explosion and a fire in the building where the shooting took place.

The Kommersant newspaper posted footage online showing smoke billowing from what it said was the concert venue building.

I haven't seen anyone bring it up, so maybe I'm missing something but where were the cops during the shootings? The videos make it look like the guys walked around shooting after(before?) shooting a bunch of people in the main theatre area. How long is the police response time to a populated area in the middle of their capital?

That's a bit more understandable. I don't have knowledge of it off the top of my head but it would align with India and Pakistan both funding terrorist cells that backfires and attacks the sponsor. Its also undeniably true that the US openly funded the muhahedeen against the soviets.
supporting questionable insurgents and rebels against your rivals only for it to blow up in your face has a long history in great power politics
the most disastrous example of it is probably when imperial germany supported lenins insurrection against imperial russia, which ended up creating the monstrosity that was the soviet union

Beating the shit out of uncooperative pedestrians outside of the concert hall apparently.

It's not the middle of the capital and technically not even Moscow proper, it sits out of town in Moscow Oblast. Crocus City Hall is a pet project of a wealthy Azeri businessman and getting there is a pain and a half despite it being one of the more expensive concert venues around.

It’s a bit early to say but I’m guessing local police found themselves outgunned and had to wait for SWAT . Guards inside the mall could’ve been killed early in the shooting. These are multiple terrorists who probably saw combat in Syria, not some lone incel with an AR-15. It’s a huge building with many people. Honestly I’m surprised they only killed 40 people (assuming the death toll doesn’t climb).

Normally isis targets Russia ops not russia?
Now that Al-Aqsa Flood has been mopped up, Israel is going to be getting a lot more hands-on with Russia, imo. Especially now that Ukraine is lost, all they'll have left is terrorism and targeting civilians. This is not surprising, this is not the first, and won't be the last. Russia will not be forgiven for supporting Iran and Syria.

Just seems unlikely they did it given the circumstances. While Russia played a key role in buck breaking ISIS in Syria I just don't see that as a big motivating factor anymore, and while ISIS (like other Sunni extremist groups) despises the Shia I don't think Russia's close relationship with Iran would motivate them to attack the country either.
The comments I'm reading by Israel supporters say that this is the pay Putin has for supporting Hamas (did he though?) So, while sure ISIS or their supporters are morons who only want to see infidel blood running, it makes sense this attack is a way to tell people "this is what happens when you support an anti-Israel movement, they betray you".

I'm not saying the attack was pushed by Israel, because ISIS doesn't need that, but it'd make sense this is a way to signal Islam as the "true" enemy of Christianity, not the Jews who have never damaged them in any way, which is now more relevant as Israel is losing support specially by Christians who are speaking on behalf of Palestinian Christians.

European countries and Russia don’t really have police like the US which are former GWOT vets trained in advanced pavement ape circumvention and /pol/tard/pooner manifesto response tactics. They’re more to browbeat the local population into compliance and hand out tickets.

this is true in england and germany but not in russia
from my understanding cops in russia have a reputation for being corrupt as fuck, but not soft pussies like they are in western europe

Its the finely-tuned jewish friend/enemy distinction. To them supporting Hamas could be anything from literally supporting Hamas, to just not treating jews as gods at all times. Every White person who does not kowtow to them always is a Nazi. Hell, even every German who exists are considered Nazis by many jews, even though they may be the mostly dutiful and cowed of servants.

Not every place is like that US that has a shit ton of police at every single big event. That is just my theory.

Russia says it neutralized ISIS cell plotting attack on Moscow synagogue

Here is an article from March 7th, right around the time that the US State Department issued their warning. Maybe an ISIS cell was planning an attack on a synagogue, they got busted and a few remaining members that happened to escape planned this attack as retaliation. Seems pretty plausible to me to the dismay of conspiracy theorists.

A White House spokesperson said the United States is aware of the reports of the mass shooting in Moscow, and considers footage from the scene "terrifying." The US Embassy in Moscow and those of other NATO countries have spent the past several weeks warning of a heightened risk of terror attacks in Moscow and other Russian regions, and urging American nationals to avoid traveling to Russia.
He also addressed questions about a March 7 security alert issued by the US Embassy in Russia, which had warned that “extremists” had plans for an imminent attack in Moscow.

“I don’t think that was related to this specific attack,” Kirby said.
Imagine hearing their embassy in your nation issue a terrorism warning, knowing that they're planning to do something horrible to you. "Our enemies are experiencing heightened risks of attacks by people who are not us. How do we know that? Shut up."
