Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

I just took another glance at chapter 106 and realized that was the actual final chapter. Man, that felt unsatisfying. Wouldn't have even taken much more to make it at least feel a bit more conclusive. Even a few panels of Gem Phos happily chatting with the sentient rocks, finally back to her old carefree self as they head into the unknown would have made it feel less incomplete. It's like they just barely set up the happy ending twist and decide to blue-ball the readers just as it's about to happen.
I was incorrect, 106 is not the last chapter. I still agree most of what was said about the main storyline being a padded, convoluted, mean-spirited mess that makes every single character completely unlikable for no good reason. However the current, epilogue-esque arc is okay so far and I do think the ending will at least be reasonably decent.

Does anyone have any recommendations for (relatively) normal magical girl Manga? Having just finished watching Madoka Magica and reading Gushing over Magica Girls, I want to read something not with the dark twist to it.
Tokyo Mew Mew, Magic Knight Rayearth, and Full Moon wo Sageshite.

I think the reason why some people are mixed about the final arc is because of the literal FUCKING YEARS of gaps inbetween time. I liked 106 and 107 was fantastic. The manga is going to wrap up next month but I at least have a general idea of how it's going to end compared to when were at 102-104 like a couple of years ago.

I've watched all of Fire Force and am 25 chapters into the manga. Ho fuck. This show is gud.

First, it's a post apocalypse done right. The world is the way it is, society has rebuilt, none of this zombie movie "just trying to survive man! " bullshit. Because of this, the fire powers and assorted bullshit make sense. I can't stress it enough, I dig the world building.

The plot is fucking cool. People are turning into fire zombies, some chick is powering a nuclear reactor in the middle of Tokyo, canonically you can be cursed with such bad luck as to lose your clothes if a man looks at you, and a church that isn't totally evil but was also founded on a lie. Holy fuck that's a lot.

Also the religious aspect. The Japanese usually use Christianity as window dressing. It feels like a LOT of thought went into the religious stuff, and how people would cope if the world just exploded in flames one day. Even when revealed to be a lie, they don't go public with the info, because, yeah, society would break down.

Fanservice. I was not disappointed. I am surprised it pissed so many people off though. Yes the cat girl is a gag character that loses her clothes at the drop of a hat. It's fucking funny because NO ONE takes her seriously. As for everyone else, yes, characters have tiddies. Why are you mad twitter.com? They aren't ugly or some shit?

Overall I've had a fantastic ride. I can't wait to finish the manga.

I always assumed it was propaganda for Japan's national firefighting brigade or something.

Winter was overall a good season. Hokkaido Gals and Apothecary Diaries were the best shows this season. Moonlit Fantasy so far has been really mid imo. Theres too many main characters and one of them is possibly a villian. The class that Misumi is training barely get any screen time when they arent getting fucked up. The other two main characters are barely in the show. As for Blue Exorcist season 3. It was boring tbh. Kind of a letdown when the Kyoto saga was really good.
Speaking of Gyarus...

Black Skin Shitty Gyaru: Has a shitty ending.
Lily White Yuki Gyaru: Has this

Fire Force is very underrated and I love it but it does suck that show gets unnecessary hate for its fan service from tourists. Its a great show and season 3 has been confirmed. Although its already been almost 4 years since the last season. U could just finish the manga since it already ended. Its completely up to you.

I'm reading the manga now. I plan to finish by the end of the week, because it seems we're in a Goblin Slayer S2 production hell situation where s3 is announced but there is no updates for years.

As for the fanservice, I genuinely don't get the hate. There are "worse" shows that are just as popular that no one talks shit about, but Fire Force is the exception because it has a gag character.
Have you read or watched the creator's previous work Soul Eater by any chance?
No but now that I've seen what he can do, I'm interested

It might just be me but I have a slight aversion to ongoing monthly series because of this. With very few exceptions, a monthly schedule almost always make a series feel slower then it already is, and it gets worse when its schedule is even longer or is prone to hiatuses. I remember I ended up dropping Gintama until it finished because gorilla kept underestimating the ending and had to be transfer to the quarterly magazine, then a specific app they literally just made for the final 2 chapters. And I probably won't pick back up Black Clover or World Trigger until I hear that there close to ending soon.
To put it into a little bit of a perspective, a weekly manga can get about 5 volumes a year give or take 200 pages each volume, a monthly can get 2-3,
so monthly series like Dungeon Meshi would of been over in just under 3 years if it covered the exact same material on a weekly schedule and something like Titan would of ended in a little less then 7
But if Kubo decided to take bleach monthly after aizen, it might just be wrapping up about now and if Arraki had made jojo monthly from the start instead of only switching in SBR, Stone Ocean would still be ongoing.

JIBUN WOOOO COLORS might've been the meme opening but Days is so much better. Rewatching Eureka Kino instead of seasonal slop was the right call.

Tamaki filters your average anime poser & Amerimutt in general. Also, the best fanservice comes from the REAL best girl, Maki.

For Soul Eater, I recommend watching the anime first than the manga. The anime goes filler route for it's ending midway through, but I'd still recommend watching it cause the manga doesn't have the kino OST that the anime has. I've been procrastinating on the manga since almost a decade, yet I recommend it for the true ending of the story.

Maki is legitimately one of my favorites. Very nuch a tomboy, powers are simple yet pretty fucking hype, and she rocks her witch hat hard.
