I'm glad you brought Bhopal up again.

Bhopal the locals killed themselves by bypassing safety lockouts and alarms because they didn't like the sound.

Every single safety measure had been disabled, improperly installed, or was flat out the wrong equipment for the job.

In the middle of the gas leak, they STOPPED WORK FOR TEA TIME.

This allowed the incident to go critical.

Calls to the UCIL plant by police between 1:25 and 2:10 a.m. elicited assurances twice that "everything is OK", and on the last attempt made, "we don't know what has happened, sir"

It's a perfect example of Indian competence, and why you should not do business in India.

India never admitted the cause of the accident. Carbide claimed sabotage by an angry pajeet. (He did not like his fellow pajeet managers)
 
Having a serial entrepreneur as a boss. A small PL but a few jobs back I had a company owner who literally started a new business every year for the handful of years I was there. It became obvious that each company was meant to pay for the next one with no care given to supporting the current business and growing it. Last I checked only their original business survived.

If, by any chance, you are dealing with Asians, I imagine you should be able to find someone to make it happen. Probably on the side of the recipient.
You need an "in" to the respective community that you can trust. Just tell them that you needed to "exchange" or "gift" some money from USD to local currency to a friend.

Asking for input and opinions without any actual desire to hear said input or opinions. A lot of bosses I have seen over the years seem shocked when after asking me for my opinion or input on something I proceed to actually give said input or opinion. Not even a case of "they just wanted to hear you kiss their asses" either some seemed to be perplexed that I agreed with a suggestion or said it was good too. Like they don't actually mean any of it, and are simply doing it as some sort of ritual and not actually expect any feedback whatsoever.

Though it is much worse when they ask for it, and when the input and response is negative they proceed to ignore it and keep going as if they never even heard it. It's like it doesn't register at all, how many times do I need to fucking say "no that is a bad idea do not try and do that" for you to understand you dumb motherfucker? Do you think you are some sort of God? Do you think this is the military or something? You can ask for it to be done as many times as you what that is simply not possible I am not putting my ass on the line and risking destroying shit for your retarded idea.

I never experienced it on a real level to be honest. Only one time when I was really young and was doing some internship I had to.

It was a startup who basically hired an army of interns who needed it on paper for their studies. The golden pipeline, a whole bunch of monkeys to punch keyboards in and out.

The CEO wanted to have these meetings every Monday to brainstorm. Turned out that it was more for hearing himself talk. I had lots of suggestions, and he was always kind of dismissive to continue run his ideas through us and basically expected us to listen and pitch in lightly, mostly nod.

One day, like 4 weeks in, we get into an argument, and I make him look kind of bad. But not in a bad way, he was just wrong about something. We never had these meetings ever again. He actually stopped coming to our office, only left two managers with us.

But to be fair, it's not always easy to hear feedback from others. And it takes a good understanding of yourself to be able to handle it.

I know that I always ask people around me what they think, and I often take it as an opportunity to destroy what they have to say. But it's more of a thinking process than anything, I don't mean anything personally or think less of them. On the contrary. It's just that if I think something is the best option and ask you what you think and you disagree, it only makes sense I would try to find holes in your thinking process. If I can't, I am wrong. If I can I am probably right, thanks for comforting me in my opinion.

Everyone cannot handle this. But I don't throw this kind of shit at someone who doesn't know what they are stepping into either. There is respect nonetheless, I would not be asking their opinion otherwise to begin with.

Going to echo the sentiment of working with India in any capacity, but this example shows some retardation on the American company's side too.

Without going into excessive detail, I worked at a company manufacturing equipment worldwide. In ancient times, they manufactured two pieces of equipment: model 1 that could do task A and model 2 that could do task B. Both model 1 and model 2 were expensive to manufacture and purchase but performed adequately, even though the computer control stuff was like 20 years out of date.

The company then creates the model 3, which is essentially model 1 and model 2 smashed together. It can do both tasks A and B very well. In this line of work, you really want both functionalities. It is cheaper to buy one model 3 than both a model 1 and a model 2. Plus, it uses modern, easy to use, backwards compatible software.

It's a massive hit basically everywhere. We made like 2 week.

Everywhere except India. The model 3 is more expensive than either individual model 1 or model 2, so they just refuse.

What was the genius solution? To make revamped versions of the model 1 and model 2, update all the software stuff, but sell it at a loss just because it's what the Indians expect. They can't even upgrade these when we make new options for the model 3.

What's even more funny is that with modern hardware, the revamped model 1 and model 2 perform even better than the model 3 at the tasks they can do. Because we wanted to steer people towards the more profitable (and better supported) model 3, we artificially kneecapped the performance of the revamped model 1 and model 2.

So the combined powers of retardation involved here created a new version of an old product sold at a massive loss. Nobody buys these except for Indians.
 
A lot of CEO's walk in and get fixated on this concept of being "change agents" and go crazy with new policies and "ideas".

I suppose that in this day and age of having private equity ready to "short sell" your stock in an instant puts these guys under the gun, so to speak.

Nevertheless, it's a fucking cringe-fest most of the time, especially for people who are just trying to get shit done so that they can go home.

Equity firms are a cancer on business and society. Their goal is to slash O&M costs to the bone and then when shit falls apart, dump it on someone else. The savings they get go to executive compensation, stock buybacks, and DEI initiatives. Then the rank and file get told that times are tight so bonuses and raises have to get slashed or eliminated. A lot of major industrial accidents are a result of equity firm kikery but since the same firms own media outlets, they never get called out. Seen a bunch of companies get hollowed out these last few years so the big line can keep going up and it’s one of the reasons why inflation is out of control as well. I think they should be strung up by their balls…in Roblox.

wrong there, you have to realize these activists aren't like flashers at a football game, they understand quite well their position and are usually connected enough that even if they have an iconic fuck up they can weasel their way into a new company through an ally. I know plenty of TERFs who still don't realize a woman came up with that entire gimmick and would have hired this cunt if her resume was brought in front of them. the same way the US is infested with activist judges even if they could get fired they would have a golden parachute at the end of it for them.
means they have to hire more technical staff, which means increasing the amount of white guys we have on payroll. So we will pay 2-3x that amount in consultants just so we have our numbers look good for diversity statistics. It’s amazing how quickly things have gone to shit in the last ten years.
the only thing worse is how many white people coworkers i know just dont understand the game, i understood immediately where i plateaued and nothing short of catching the ceo fucking a child would get me to move out of this position. Theres some fresh out of college white muslim kid literally working without pay on projects not realizing they won't give a shit.
For example, this person decided we needed more of certain demographic so mainly let them through. Had I not known what the typical recruitment pool is like, I would have never guessed they were literally throwing resumes in the garbage on the basis of gender.
they've been doing that since the obama administration at the latest, in fact the fact someone had to come in and tell them that means your HR must have been run by noble people, i once worked for a place where the job recruiters had to be told they were hiring too many black people, as you can guess hr was run exclusively by white women with white children they hate with a passion.
Edit: Having a "voluntary" staff turn/hire ratio of 90% a year.
another good one, i've seen managers get put into a position and end up cleaning house either because people liked the old manager so much they quit or they deliberately bring in their boys. its hilarious seeing it be so common in companies too, i'm sure there's at least one that looks like that one season of survivor where the 4 tribes were of each race. if you took bullshit stuff like that out of the equation i'd say the amount of turnover in a lot of companies would drop like a stone, one higher-up i know even both admitted to the practice and said it was great overall because after the growing pains turnover practically stops dead because leaving the company means also leaving your friends/family.

She was ridiculed and quietly fired. I don't think her career will ever recover from this. What are you arguing exactly? She thought she could force a market to accept a mascot instead of using a mascot to promote a product further. I'm not certain what you are claiming here, are you saying she is a martyr for the trans cause?
