Duke University researchers help transgender woman, 50, breastfeed her GRANDCHILD using experimental hormone drugs so she could feel what it's like to be a real mom - but critics call it 'frankly disturbing'

A trans woman has been helped to breastfeed her grandchild, in what is thought to be a world first.

The unidentified 50-year-old was helped to express up to 30ml of milk at a time, after a four week course of hormone treatment.

Researchers from Duke University reported the woman ‘lactated for a total of two weeks’ and was able to feed the four-month-old baby.

The motivation for inducing lactation was to create a ‘bond from breastfeeding that she had not been able to experience with her own five children’.

She was moved to tears by the experience, which she said had the added benefit of affirming her female gender and making her breasts larger.

The patient later stopped the course of treatment ‘due to logistical barriers'.

According to the researchers, who published their study in the journal Breastfeeding Medicine, the patient had said they had ‘a last-minute idea’ about breastfeeding their grandchild.

‘The patient first expressed the unique desire to breastfeed her expected grandchild at an appointment with her endocrinologist in the spring of 2022,' they wrote.

‘She disclosed that this was a last-minute idea that came to her very close to her daughter’s due date.

‘At five weeks after initiating treatment changes for lactation induction, she reverted to her previous medication regimen.

‘She states that she stopped pursuing her personal goal to breastfeed due to logistical barriers, such as the need to take care of her grandchild while her daughter was pumping.’

‘Her primary motivation for inducing lactation was to experience the bond from breastfeeding that she had not been able to experience with her own five children.

‘The patient tearfully reported this was a significant and emotional experience for her that felt very different from formula feeding her other children.

‘She states she has a special bond with this baby for which she is grateful.

‘She regrets that she had not known about the possibility sooner and wished that other transgender women could know that breastfeeding a baby can be a reality.

‘She reported unforeseen benefits, including female gender affirmation and full breast maturation.

‘The patient did not experience any side effects from her treatment regimen.’

It is only the fifth report of a trans woman experiencing induced lactation for the purpose of breastfeeding.

Different treatment protocols were also required as the drugs used in the previous four studies have not been approved for use in the US by the US Food and Drug Administration.

The researchers added: ‘Conversations with the subject before, during, and after treatment revealed important insights for the ongoing discussions about the role of lactation induction and breastfeeding in gender-affirming care.’

The issue of trans women breastfeeding is subject to controversy – gender-critical campaigners described the study as ‘absolutely shocking’.

Heather Welford from With Woman, a collective of midwives and breastfeeding experts, said: ‘Most people would find the idea absolutely shocking.

‘Babies come into the world ready to continue their relationship with their mother, and breastfeeding helps with this.

‘Disrupting this with attempts at breastfeeding by anyone else is frankly disturbing.'

Maya Forstater, executive director of campaign group Sex Matter, said: ‘Babies cannot consent to being participants in a study which sets aside biological reality to define treatment protocols relating to so-called “gender medicine”.

‘Men should not be permitted, still less supported, to get between babies and their mothers, or to use babies as props to validate their beliefs that they are women.’

The CDC was criticized last year for advice no its website that appeared to endorse 'chestfeeding' — when a trans woman who was born male breastfeeds.

One section, titled 'Health Equity Considerations', claimed 'an individual does not need to have given birth to breastfeed or chestfeed.'

There was nothing on the site that mentioned the health risks to the baby - including heart problems.

So much yuck about this. Where was the babies mother in all this? She seriously let them do this to her baby? I've seen children confiscated for less. The idea of including inducing lactation for a real human baby to consume in the name of "gender affirming care" is frankly disgusting. Yes I'm angry!

Reminder that the milk produced not only lacks nutrition but to date there's no solid evidence to support the idea that this milk never contains the artificial hormones used to create it. And even if it's not at a dangerous level (SCIENCE says this, meaning it will not kill the child, but that doesn't mean it's safe) there's no telling what long term effect this has on babies.

These freak experiments are an affront to nature.

‘She disclosed that this was a last-minute idea that came to her very close to her daughter’s due date.
The mind reels at what else this piece of shit has done to his daughter. Normal people don't just accept daddy (or mommy, for that matter) grabbing their kid to nurse it. You have to be abused to within an inch of your life before you have that little sense of self.

Anyway, the world would be better if he was dead and I am glad his doctor is trying to kill him by giving someone with a clotting disorder high levels of hormones and arrhythmia inducing drugs. TTD.

Abstract

Background: Lactation induction in transgender women is a clinical and research priority in the field of breastfeeding medicine. To date, there are four case reports detailing successful induced lactation in transgender patients who wished to breastfeed. The Academy of Breast Feeding Medicine does not formally recommend a specific medication regimen for transgender patients due to lack of high-quality research. Case Presentation: A 50-year-old transgender woman with a hypercoagulable disorder who was able to lactate and breastfeed with novel hormone regimen management at a gender care clinic. Her baseline hormone treatment was an estradiol 0.3 mg transdermal patch every 72 hours and micronized progesterone 200 mg daily. Results: Within four weeks of initiating a modified hormone regimen (estradiol 0.4 mg patch every 72 hours, progesterone 300 mg daily, metoclopramide 10 mg three times daily), the patient was lactating spontaneously. On multiple occasions, she breastfed and expressed up to 30 mL of milk through pumping. Conclusion: This report offers a new effective hormone regimen for transgender patients who wish to lactate and cannot access domperidone-the galactagogue used in previous case reports. It also provides a review of previously published case reports on this subject. Future research in this field should prioritize cohort studies of transgender patients who desire lactation to further assess patient attitudes, experiences, and outcomes.

I've seen, read, and listened to some of the worst horrors the internet has to offer before I was even an adult, yet this, somehow invoked genuine disgust within me. I think it's the fact that women aren't even supposed to take aspirin when breast feeding yet we're trying to indulge male fetishes by pumping infants full of moob juice chemicals with no known outcome of the results.

[insert Family Guy gif of Stewie and Brian throwing up]

Not only this is clearly a fetish, but it's going to have serious effects on the baby's development.
edit: Like people said before me, there are important rules that mothers have to respect during and after their pregnancy. The fact that they allow men to "lactate" is insane.

Her primary motivation for inducing lactation was to experience the bond from breastfeeding that she had not been able to experience with her own five children.

Baby doctor’s priorities at work, in order of importance:

1. Things other than the health of the newborn child in their care.
2. The health of the newborn child in their care.

Everyone in this story should die.

Except the kid.

They should be taken away and given to a good Mongolian family where they will learn horsemanship, to hunt with golden eagles, and archery.

Then when they reach the proper age return to this disgusting shithole and cleanse it with their horde of Mongolian warriors.

Even in the scenario where the grandmother was a biological woman it would be considered repulsive for them, way past childbearing years, to try to breastfeed their grandchild. I do not know a single woman, even the most trashy ones, that would let an old man do this to their kid. I can only come the conclusion that he’s either doing it behind the moms back or he’s abusive and manipulative. Knowing Troons, probably both.

Theres no way a doctor or a prestigious facility like Duke would ever put a woman’s “feelings” of wanting to “bond” with their grandkid over the health of a newborn. But a man‘s feelings plus being able to do unethical experiments sounds about right for Duke.
