It's an easy, turn based JRPG with lots of long cutscenes. Despite his constant whining about RPG Overload™️this is his favorite kind of game because it's the most low effort for him to stream, next to walking simulators. The reason he dropped Final Fantasy 7 and not Yakuza is because FF7 is an action game with an RPG wrapper.
Phil played Yakuza before he was streaming, though. Back when he filled every second with his annoying babble and goat laughs in his videos.

In the ending cutscene of LAD, we see Kasuga carrying Eiji through a crowd of hostile citizens despite Eiji being an enemy for the second half of the game and one of the main antagonists. While carrying him Kasuga is being pelted with trash and having phones shoved in his face and not once does he balk, at one point during the scene we see the jackass streamer from the start of the game who proceeds to just pummel Kasuga because he won't fight back and only stops when it becomes obvious that he won't fight back.

The idea that dave is anything like Kasuga or Kiryu for that matter is pure madness, in no reality would dave help someone who has betrayed him but there is someone in this scene that is dave to a tee, the jackass streamer who starts attacking kasuga. That guy is the personification of dave and his shitty morality the only difference between them is the streamer eventually stopped attacking a defenceless Kasuga while dave would continue.

Phil would be one of those people who insist on playing "Every Breath You Take" by The Police at a wedding for a first dance song, and not knowing what the song is really about. And even then, that comparison still doesn't do his behaviour justice.

If they had a wedding reception, i would expect "get lucky" by daft punk for the first song...

"If I ignore it, it'll go away."
You can really push that as far as you want to. I disagree with the idea that self-delusion has some kind of shelf life, and that one day he just suddenly won't be able to do it anymore. There are consequences to it, and they will just get more and more severe, but you and I see people all the time that have spent their entire lives deluding themselves without ever facing it.

Hopefully one day we will get Phil's reaction to Dio in Rebirth.

I'm inclined to agree. Eventually the coming generations of internet kids won't even know DSP as "The Guy" and he'll be buried deeper and deeper into obscurity as the generation of viewers and content creators that grew up in Phil's era of youtube start to have lesser and lesser influence over the zeitgeist (if we aren't already). Phil may be scared of the reality setting in, I don't doubt he has enough self-delusion and cope reserves to tell himself that he's happy and fulfilled. Remember this is the guy who can doublethink as easy as breathing given that he's both a founding pillar of gaming content creation but also just a small time humble guy who's been a constant target by da trawlz.

I don't doubt that he thinks there's gonna be droves of articles and twitter trends about him when he finally pulls the trigger on DSPolitics. I don't doubt he thinks that if he "semi-retires" from gaming content because he's becoming a decrepit old man at the age of 42 or something he'll be as talked about as when Pewdiepie did it. I don't doubt for a second that he believes wholeheartedly there's more to his legacy in the internet beyond jerking off on stream, being an annoying piece of shit in the FGC, being a terrible youtuber/streamer, and a whale in WWEC.

I think that a mental breakdown would be the best thing for DSP to actually address why he has the problems he has... people tend to bounce back up once they've hit rock bottom, but the dents that give him money keep throwing shovels and picks down the hole he's in, so he can just keep on digging deeper.
That's why I'm always on the side of the whales propping him up do him more damage long-term. Even big streamers tend to not clown out for some whale that comes through, because once you show somebody you'll give them power if they shower you with $$, you've lost. Until you stand up and say no, they control you, your streams, etc. It's ironic because he likes to pretend he's above selling out, but he's sold out to the whales.

Long ago he probably could have survived if he had done this, hit rock bottom, and changed. We're so far past that though, and he can't change as stripes as much as Kat can't stop eating bonbons.

In his twisted head, he thinks the enlightened centrist is the voice nobody hears anymore, forgetting that MSM is essentially that. He puts his finger up and sees which way the wind is blowing just like them. And like how MSM will not go against their $$ interests, Phil's politics are all about his $$ interests, except in Phil's case he might actually be worse with his contradictions (Seattle is not safe, need more cops, but also my taxes are way too high wtf). It might give us a few moments of him getting clipped by smaller "debate" streamers and dunked on but probably not much more, and like all DSP ventures, it'll die slowly.

How long before Phil starts to bitch about the raise of the minimum wage in Renton? I can already hear it now: "Now, guys! As you know, they raised the minimum wage here in Washington and everything has now gone up. You guys have to step it up to keep up and I have to have raise the tip goal to $200 to keep up with the rise."

Also, a reminder: Phil isn't registered to vote in the state of Washington. Bugged voting mechanics, dood. Nothing he could do.

I just want DSPolitics because it's time for something new in the vortex. His RPG chat handholding streams lately are not even highlight clip worthy, especially BG3. His delusional "I'm a happy family man!" act for the past year or so is tired.

Philip the Cow needs to say stupid funny things and be milked.

I wonder how long she's been with the guy and if she got married.

It might explain why Phil panicked and brought Kat out to see his parents/get married despite having no interest in marrying Leanna (despite her wanting to).

I always considered it was just him trying to tie Kat to him so he wouldn't end up without a mommy again (though she does a terrible job), but maybe his mom mentioned his sister getting married/being functional and Phil took it as a threat, so felt he had to show that he too was a functioning adult.

Phil probably sees 'who gets the inheritence' as a direct 1:1 contest, not realizing they'll both get half and his sister is 100% gonna be the executrix.
I always thought Phil marrying Khet was meant as a "take that" against Leanna, precisely because she did want to get married for so long. We know how Phil is with holding grudges, even if the people he holds grudges against aren't actively part of his life. I think it was also him doubling down because of his hurt pride, he wasn't someone with a failed relationship, now he's someone in the perfect marriage with his loving soulmaid. I do think his family put some pressure on him for it to happen.

But it's certainly not impossible inheritance fears were part of it as well. Even if it wasn't that specifically, he might have felt like he needed to flex his maturity by rushing into a wedding and spending his honeymoon bragging about it on Twitter, which as we all know is the ultimate sign of a mature and happy relationship.

The only funny thing DSP really does anymore that’s interesting is the suggestion box.
Seeing him cope so hard to resist doing ANYTHING to improve his stream/situation is absolutely hilarious.

His gameplay outside of fighting games is completely unwatchable, restreamed or not. He’s either being an annoying cunt just staring at menus for hours or going “huh, wut?!” Nonstop because he’s too retarded to understand a simple mechanic. DSPolitics needs to get here quick.

Asmongold briefly talked about Phil that will ensue a classic DSP "Some fan emailed me about this guy named Asmongold or whataver that is talking shit about me"
"I'm not a drama streamer, so I'm not going to address it, but"
*Goes on a 15 minute tiraid about the drama*

Phil’s delusional prattle about how he needs to “protect” the chat from Drama is the weirdest Opposite Day nonsense in the snortex.

As if his chat isn’t 200 ironic fans who only come because they want to see drama/spergouts plus Derich.

Was watching a SsethTzeentach video when I saw this. Spat milk over my monitor.

'Klinefelter Syndrome' lol, Jason Blaha, the DSP of YT fitness allegedly has it.

Blaha, like DSP, managed to get fired from a job his Dad got him, except he one upped DSP by getting fired from a company his Dad owned IIRC, and also like DSP people have compared his looks to a melted candle.
