Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

umor: Apparently Sledgehammer(makers of Vanguard and the studio behind MW6/III) told Activision to shove it, they don't want to work as a "second hand studio" anymore. This could be why 25% of the studio got fired recently, rumors say that COD 2025 is also going to be Treyarch in this case, making it the first time since COD 1 and COD 2 where one studio made two games in a row if true.

SHG is incompetent, good riddance to bad rubbish.

I don't think there is any saving COD because they already saved COD in 2019, and we saw that went down. At this point, they've done it twice. They've taken the most popular game series in history and ruined it with gay bullshit. They can't help themselves. When they see success, they always think they can make it even more successful by fagging it up and cutting corners on quality.

BlameTruth doesn't even play CoD, all his footage is from some other guy.
Half-true, he plays the game when he's interested in it. Even when he isn't it, he plays other games he likes, like Dead by Daylight. He only uses footage of other people once he's completely checked out of the game(MWII and Vanguard, he played all of Cold War and I think he gave up on MW2019 at some point) and he usually says so if it's not his.
Not like I blame him, being a CODtuber sucks right now. He should put about as much effort into his videos as Activision does with COD.

Man, Infinite Warfare is looking better and better each passing year, isn't it? Gosh, that game got too much hate.

At the very least, MWIII proved that SHG is the lesser studio when it comes to this series.
Speak for yourself, I always liked Infinite Warfare and Ghosts and got shit on for it. Those games were always great, people just didn't know what they wanted from the franchise. Well, Activision gave these people exactly what they wanted: Pozzed WW2 titles and about a million boots on ground Modern Warfare demakes. Hope people like the endless stream of shit, cause last time IW or any other studio for that matter tries something new and different(Advanced Warfare with Sledgehammer and Black Ops 4 with Treyarch) they were shit on it too. So, the same generic Warzone and Modern Warfare slop is all you're going to get.
Speaking of Advanced Warfare, it seems Sledgehammer will try to shoehorn some content from the game in a season dedicated entirely to in in MWIII soon according to the leaks. It's sad, all these guys want to do is to make a sequel but Activision eternally cock blocks them, it got so bad that they put the laser canon from AW into Vanguard for no reason, so you had niggers with laser guns running around WW2 battlefields in that game getting shot up by Raul Menendez and his modern automatic assault rifle.

Honestly, it would be better for everyone if Sledgehammer just got to make AW2, given that that's obviously what they'd rather be making.

Course, given how the fanbase hates anything that isn't boots on the ground...Man I wish Infinite Warfare didn't get crapped on so much. I honestly think its setting is worth revisiting, and if anything, fits all these collabs much better.

hindsight is 20/20. people were just sick of the futuristic shit by that point, amongst other things
there wasn't that much futuristic shit tho. maybe in cod with blops3, but that was mostly near future iirc. as mentioned cod-kiddies are retarded.

technically it was even more impressive than fucking starfield :story:

I honestly think its setting is worth revisiting, and if anything, fits all these collabs much better.
the setting was damn good, really a shame. even had the balls to have a good-looking competent female.

@30+GameOvers, @LightDragonman1, and @ZMOT; I agree with all three of you. The devs behind CoD really need to stop screwing around with this "boots on the ground/Fortnite hybrid" shit and make some actual, proper sequels to Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, and Infinite Warfare.

I actually still have a copy of Ghosts on my PS5, and the game itself is still pretty fun; sure, multiplayer is a bit dead these days, but the campaign ended on a MASSIVE cliffhanger, the multiplayer itself was fairly interesting, Extinction was awesome - especially when it got some updates behind it - and the idea of a stealth-focused post-apocalyptic CoD could actually be pretty interesting these days. Helps that the intel in-game provided a solid enough backstory to the game.

Same with IW; again, the multiplayer is pretty dead these days, but the campaign was awesome, multiplayer was something new, and Zombies - while not perfect - was still an interesting experiment that I hope we eventually get a proper conclusion to. Seriously, the IW Zombies mode had a fairly solid, if cheesy, story going for it that really should get a proper conclusion/continuation, and the campaign also needs one; I want to see the end of the war with the SDF, alright?

AW... can't really speak for this one currently, as I haven't touched this one on my PS3 in ages, but I do think the Exo movement was a neat idea. Again, campaign needs a proper conclusion - genuinely interested in seeing a proper conclusion to the Atlas Corporation story - multiplayer was solid despite needing some balancing (MORS, Bal-27, ASM1), and the Exo Zombies was a neat little idea. Why the devs haven't followed up on this one is beyond stupid; seriously, stop listening to the faggot influencers and enough with the MW/Black Ops shit, I'd love to have something different.

Yeah, the recent CoD games are honestly all just failures. Admittedly, I am having some slight fun with MWIII, though I'm very much a casual player with a high tolerance for bullshit and a friend to suffer with; even then, MWIII is pushing my limits at points. There are some genuinely interesting ideas here that could be really good if the devs would've bothered to actually develop them, but instead the game is going on a downward trend, because Activision cares more about pandering than developing. Damn shame.

AW has a really convoluted plot. Basically, you need to ignore the entire second half where Mitchell betrays Atlas. Why? It's not canonical, simple as that.
What you need to do is play the Survival mode. It has 4 tiers, complete all the maps and...well, something happens when you play the last map in the last tier, Riot. You will see why that makes the second half of story mode non-canonical, especially with the cliffhanger ending.
The story for AW concludes in the Exo Zombies campaign, which itself ends on a cliffhanger of sorts, but at least it has a hidden ending and an alternative ending where the survivors get rescued in the first map.
Not the greatest ending, but if you play all 3 modes, it at least ties up everything together nicely. About the best you can ask for since AW2 is never coming out.
Similarly, the story of Ghosts is concluded in Extinction. Infinite Warfare screwed up the timeline a bit, but you can safely ignore Beast From Beyond(everybody within the Zombies community does).
Speaking of which, Infinite Warfare is hinted to take place within the same universe as Ghosts but it has been confirmed it is actually the sequel to the MW Rebooted trilogy, so that hints at Zombies timeline shenanigans(We know Aether, despite destroying the original COD timeline did NOT end the Zombies story as it continues in the Reboot universe thanks to Dark Aether in Cold War so everything is on the table). The Zombies continuity and how it could possibly tie into every single COD game is a topic for another day, we could be here all day.

So, with the new season in MWIII coming on up on April 3rd, I wanted to go ahead and ask a few questions:

Namely, for the 2-3 people that actually play MWIII, what did you guys think about Season 2? You find the Battle Pass a good investment after all this time? What are your thoughts on the piss BlackCell equipment and skins? Any thoughts on the events?

As for the next Season, here's a general overview on what we're going to be getting. It's not everything, but it's a solid idea:

So, anything you guys are interested in? Glad to see Rebirth Island back? Interested in the Advanced Warfare gear, or the Godzilla vs. Kong gear? What about the new multiplayer maps or zombies content? Why is Cheech & Chong here?

Anyone have anything they'd like to share?

The game still sucks, it doesn't matter how many sprinkles you pour on a turd I am still not eating it.
It seems almost every bit of news lately has been about the new way Activision/Sledgehammer fucked something up, a new ridiculous MTX, news about cheaters, how Activision fails to deal with cheaters, how other games mog COD, how broken the game is, SBMM ect. It gets tiring.
As for Zombies, I hardly even remember it exists. Zombies community is dead and Vanguard killed it, Zombies is just the new skin for DMZ and I wish people would just accept it instead of dragging out the corpse of the game mode to sell more copies.
At the end of the day, this could be the best COD game ever made but I still wouldn't play it because it's overrun with cheaters(the game isn't at the end of it's lifecycle yet!), has scummy MTX, is absolutely creatively bankrupt with no new maps at launch and what few new maps being added clearly being cut content for MW2019/MW2022, and the entire system is as rigged as a game in a casino. If I can't even depend on my own skill without the SBMM completely ruining my experience, why even bother? Treyarch's new game will have all of this in it, so I am not even remotely looking forward to it either. Even if they revive zombies, I will still need to give Tencent I mean Acti-Blizzard my phone number, and I would rather pass a kidney stone than to do that.
The only positive thing I can say is that the new Warhammer 40K mode looked nice, but it is limited time and everybody is just playing as reskinned Juggernauts and it's in MW2023, so who cares? Should have included that in a better game.

I friend got his old Xbox 360 out and has been playing the old CoD games and he’s been raving on how fun they are and actually feel like games rather than what they’re slopping out now.

Remember, that's with the games being dead and full of hackers. They're still beating out the slop made today(and the new games have only slightly less hackers than the old ones)
Ooh, I forgot to mention the shadowban system in my last post. Why would I bother playing the game when anyone, for any reason, can mass report me and I automatically go into the bad goy corner to be forced to play with cheaters and hackers? There is no way to avoid this, legitimate players and even big time youtubers/competitive players have this happen to them. All it takes to get me shadowbanned is one kid who got pissed he lost the game to mass report the lobby and it happens automatically, do you know how many of these send me death threats back in the day? Yeah, now they dictate who goes in the naughty corner if their vagina gets sand in it.
This one thing alone breaks the entire game, at least if you're playing in multiplayer. Best part is that hackers aren't actually effected since they tend to have multiple accounts and quite literally create a schedule where they rotate the accounts to wait out any potential shadowbans. Normal people who play the game a couple of hours every week don't do that, and so they are the ones who suffer from this.

The only thing that slightly intrigues me is the return of rebirth island, but I still probably am not going to redownload Warzone and MW2 22 (i didn't get MW3 23 and probably never will)

I don't get what the big deal is, it's literally just Alcatraz from Blackout. That iteration was the best, as was Blackout over Warzone, it won't make MW2023 better just like importing MW2 maps didn't make it any better.

New Season seems kinda decent. But, I'm a new player, so I'm not really sure how it would compare to past seasons lol
Why is Cheech & Chong here?
I feel like CoD is trying to be a more mature fortnite, if that makes sense. They've got characters from The Boys, Alucard from Hellsing, and Spawn of all characters--franchises that aren't meant for kids.

This is a long shot, but I hope the Gulf War trailer ruffles some feathers like the Cold War trailer did.
I'm looking forward to see how it turns out, I've honestly had a pretty solid time with Cold War so far. At the same time, it also feels like CoD's final chance to prove itself, after how much of a trainwreck MW22 and MW23 were. MW23 still has a significantly better-feeling MP compared to 22, but its balancing is a mess, with Longbow being one of the main culprits. MWZ is also a complete shitshow patched on top of DMZ's carcass, and the campaign was shat on so thoroughly by everyone on the internet that it needs no explanation. Based on the fact CoD 2025 allegedly still has no lead studio behind it, that's not shaping up to do the best either. If Gulf War doesn't do it, it'll probably be a long time before anything else has the chance to.

Have they made the zombies mode playable solo yet or do you still have to play on a map with other people doing their own things?
