He has actual "based positions" but is afraid that his Cali friends will disown him if he openly helps Trump.
He is controlled by his Jewish wife. See all the Jewish media types that exist to get conservatives to die for Israel that are constantly on his show.
He is a California entertainment complex liberal and his "based" positions is him being slightly smarter than most of those types and realizing making sympathetic noises to people he despises keeps him relevant. (See Bill Maher)

I just figured he's really not that great of an interviewer and is aware of it.
Obviously if somebody wants to go full bjork and like, wander around the set and hide under the couch there's not a whole lot you can do, but a skilled interviewer can generally direct the conversation in ways he wants.

I've listened to an inordinate amount of Rogan podcasts due to the guests he has on, and it definitely stems from two things:
The guy knows for a fact Trump would argue every retarded point he could bring up, and would come prepped with a litany of web searches for his minion to counter the faggot's habit of using google to find MSM articles.
And if he had Trump on he'd never hear the fucking end of it since his retarded ass has done a 360 on enough of his batshit insane political stances (hearing Rogan talk about how bad the border situation is when he was a "borders are just lines on a map, man" liberal right up until Abbot flooded leftist bughives with illegals is nausea-inducing) which makes him close enough to "republican" for the outrage mobs to go after him and the MSM to call him right-wing.
He's just saving himself a headache. If he actually was so ardently anti-Trump he would've refused to attend UFC events after Trump started showing up.

This. When the Spotify deal went through, he said none of his shows would be removed. He got to Spotify, and some of his shows were being quietly removed. Joe's reaction was to lie about it for weeks. He finally addressed it after his fans wouldn't stop bringing it up but he never had a good reason to lie about it to begin with.
He doesn't need money anymore. If he didn't run the most popular media program in the world, he would still be commentating a dozen or more UFC events every year. I don't think Spotify holding the hundred million over him was what made those episodes go away. He also got really uncomfortable talking about Diddy parties with Joey Diaz, and Joe has been running around L.A. since his early 20's. He has admitted to going to some fucked up Hollywood parties with Dave Chappelle back in the day and seeing unspeakable shit. AND he worked around Andy Dick.
