I'm going to get the meanest judgmental looks when I pick up the Red Room comics I ordered from my local shop. Damn. Maybe Ed pulled a GG and threatened to kill himself, but accidentally overdosed instead.

Don't remind me about Red Room. One of the few comics of the last couple of years that I was honestly 100% hyped for when it was being released. Was super pissed off when he ended it (and ending it with massive number of cliffhangers as well) last year and now I'm torn from being pissed off that the series is now 100% dead with Ed and the the shameful relief of knowing that a hypothetical volume four won't be lost media due to his death and the inevitable blacklisting of his works from Fantographic Press making them refuse to release any issues they might have had ready to publish or that any hypothetical volume four will never be finished.

Dorkin's a shit stain fraud who calls all comic fans monsters and incels while creating Eltingville purely to shit on comic fans who rightfully called one of his BFFS (Dan Vado) a woman hating asshole for the way he vindictively killed off Ice in his Justice League run, purely because he couldn't stand the idea that Ice was the most popular member of the team he was writing within the JLI fanbase. He definitely should not have talked to her, but it isn't just about her. Outing him 4 years after some awkward and suggestive interactions (even she later said he never propositioned her or discussed sexual activity) was just the start of a chain reaction leading to him deciding that his life was just over with no hope of redemption, which is sad. Nothing he said to any of those women was worth calling him out over, IMO.

It's all really retarded and done exclusively for clout rather than out of any sort of genuine trauma or aboose. I have no idea how any adult who isn't one of this girl's parents can get worked up over something like this. Even back in middle school there were multiple girls in my grade who casually drank, did drugs, and whored around as early as 12 because they had shitty absentee/divorced parents or were just plain fucked up. In high school there were even more girls who casually talked about their sex lives with anyone who'd listen and some who openly had boyfriends that were old enough to be considered statutory rapists, that their parents apparently had no issues with. The idea that a 17 year old on Instagram is some kind of innocent child who is deeply traumatized by a comic book dork awkwardly flirting with her in DMs doesn't comport with any sort of reality I've seen.

It's a touchy subject for internet retards, but teenagers being promiscuous should be the least shocking thing in the world to anyone who's gone through the public school system and recalls their peers at the time with any degree of honesty.

I totally disagree on acting like Eltingville was purely a scathing attack it captures that late 80s thru 90s nerdcore so well and makes me happy it’s pretty much dead to the internet age. It hit close to home that they did “Trivia Offs” the ones I had in elementary school were never that dramatic but yeah we’d quiz each other on Simpsons and Pokemon. Dorkin wrote it inspired by his own nerdom that’s why it’s really authentic to a thankfully dead era.

The only part that crosses the line to preachy is the ending comic where he obviously turns one character into an idealized version of himself who respects women and has matured. Still it’s a good work, it represents Dorkin more than any comic fan who sent hate mail to DC.

As several posts have shown, Piskor wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed and the stress of the previous week probably did an additional little number on his mind. Not surprising he didn't tie every last loose end in his final note.

He was probably not very interested in creating posthumous controversy with his friend. If you read his suicide note, he says Jim hurt him but also asked Jim to see to it that Ed's family got any money that was coming to them and that he trusted Jim to make sure his folks didn't get screwed by publishers and lawyers. Not really something you'd expect he'd do if he was trying to set him up for embarrassment or controversy. I think the story he told in the letter was just an illustration of their friendship, good or bad.

I honestly pity Jim Rugg. He cut ties with Ed in front of the whole world before they could even had a conversation about it. I know what it's like to lose a close friend when there was a bit of static you didn't squash before it was too late. I'd bet everything I have that Jim Rugg feels like shit about it and it's a regret that will never fully go away.

Considering that just the allegations fucked Piskor's life enough to off himself in desperation I kind of understand how Rugg may have panicked into distancing himself as much as possible in such an undignified, desperate way. As the person publicly closest to Piskor, Rugg was probably awaiting with increasing trepidation the first tweet to ask him if not denouncing Piskor meant that he supported grooming with the subsequent contract/project cancellations.

Which shows she at least feels guilty over what she did. Molly Wright, on the other hand is still posting cutesy 'tee-hee' shit like this.

I personally saw that comment about the hug as Ed showing that Rugg was the only innocent one in this whole mess. Jim has a family to support, and probably had Gary Groth and other comic heads breathy down his neck, telling him to make a statement or else. EVS was already a millionaire when he was cancelled, and told mainstream comics to suck his dick (behind Pizza Hut). Rugg has a teaching job on the side to help pay bills.

That's why he carefully worded to say 'working publicly with Piskor' while still seeing him at his house. Ed hid his Will from Jim when he brought soup in the CK studio, cause he knew Rugg would figure out what Ed was going to do and try and stop him.

Jim is probably wondering if he hadn't made that statement, Ed might still be alive now. All this because some art hoes felt the 'ick' cause a middle aged wigger nerd made it.


Indie comic artist and Cartoonist Kayfabe regular guest Bryan Christopher Moss is stepping away from the comic community cause of all of this. Wouldn't surprise me if Jim did the same.
