The report of death is dated June 27th, a month and a half after the last reported suicide in 2021. An inaccuracy this large seems unlikely, as does a suicide in June 2021 making it into the 2022 report instead.

Any thoughts on how to make this make sense?

Errors in public reporting of records in a case like this may be very unlikely, but unlikely is not impossible and verified records contradicting publicly reported figures would be enough to show an error.

One of those things you really hoped wasn’t real, but… cie la vie. The only thing weird about this is it’s off by a month. Did he try to resume life as normal under another identity and realize it wouldn’t work? Cause someone like Byuu, chronically online, can’t exactly give it up. And considering what a massive drama whore he was, someone likely sussed out it was him under a new identity instantly.

If he wasn’t online it would’ve been miserable, because he’s a gaijin, surrounded by people who hate him as is, multiplied by the fact that he’s a sperg, and probably had legal matters from Nintendo to deal with due to his reverse engineering efforts.

Edit to simplify my rambling, and theory: Byuu was probably in trouble due to his reverse engineering efforts violating Japanese law. He tried to use KiwiFarms as an out for a suicide. A month passes and he probably was found by Japanese authorities for questioning (again, what he did was criminal, not civil, in Japan). Rather then face what he did, he finally went self checkout.
