On a serious note, I do know what you're talking about. Ghost houses that I remember hearing ages ago that sell for dirt cheap in Japan also run off the Shinto kegare defilement belief system (it's not that much different as selling a house where a murder happened for cheap) and the reality is a lot different than a simple vacant house that you can just move into.
