You're absolutely correct. I sort of wish the explanation were not quite as simple as 'Nick felt threatened/was making a power play' but it sure seems to be.

Did he though? His audience used to be universally hated during lawtube's height. They used to lovebomb people and then start forcing the insider humor onto those people. If you dare say anything bad about Nick they'd attack. I do think his current crop is worse but his old fans weren't that great either and a big part of that is just the population loss. More and more people will call him out and his fans aren't drowning them out.

I dunno much about his "Lawtube audience." For me, I'm largely ignorant of Rekieta between late 2020, and late 2022, when this thread was moved and he was officially declared a lolcow. I'm the wrong guy to ask about that time period.

However, I can tell you his 2019 Weebwars audience was extremely protective of him. I know, because that was the particular audience I was a part of. Until late 2020, when I became suspicious and disillusioned with the type of person he is. A lot of people back then felt Nick was fighting the good fight with respect to Vic, and were eager to show their support.

I'm pretty sure that a significant portion of that same 2019 audience has a very different view of him now. It helps that he, within the last year, basically told them to eat shit.

Regardless of any of that, I think nearly everybody in his old audience, regardless of when they were in it, is in universal agreement that his current audience is dogshit. Absolute floor sweepings. He now has a pale shadow of what he used to have. The drop off in support from the halcyon years of 2018-2022, and now, is truly staggering. I have no numbers to prove it, but I am fairly confident it's a way bigger drop than even Ethan Ralph experienced. It's definitely bigger than Tonkasaw. Once upon a time, both of them were unironically popular too. I sometimes wonder if newfags would even believe me if I told them there was a time when Tonkasaw ran a extremely entertaining morning show.

What makes the shower call really funny is that Nick probably actually believes the "he can't understand social cues" thing because in all likelihood between 2018 and 2022 Rekieta executed dozens of successful shower calls and he was probably confused when it stopped working. The difference is that he has 0 clout now and people just laugh at him when he tried to run the playbook back on Null and Eric July last year. The number of people ostracizing anybody because Rekieta sent the signal in 2023 onward is zero.

The "hope you make a million dollars" thing was also reminiscent of how he would pretend to take the high road knowing that his fans and sidekick creator friends would do his dirty work for him.

He got a lot of deference from every circle he was in, and he used it to silence people.
