By not renewing contracts, they get rid of a committed expense. This is a "stop the bleeding" move and means their expenses don't match their income. Trying to spin it as positive isn't very effective.

Rumble is starting to sink and by lying about renewing his contract, Nick is the band playing as it goes down.

This makes a lot of business sense. They were infused with tens of millions at the IPO, and they took an aggressive stance to try to capture some market share and poach big names. We are rapidly coming to the point where it will be seen if the gamble will pay dividends or fail.

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, that happened YEARS ago, not months. It might not have been discussed here in any great detail though, because there wasn't a lot of Rekieta criticism at that point. Or maybe there was no extended clip posted (what you're describing sounds a lot more involved and disturbing than what I know about the incident).
