Basically, "reunification therapy" is yet another quack scam sold to stupid or asshole parents. The thinking is that a child can be "alienated" from their parent by the other parent's influence and somehow a program will make it all go away.

The younger son, then 12, covered his head with a blanket, shutting out the sounds, while his older brother became violent. When the boys refused to leave their bedroom to take part in therapy, Maase ordered the door removed. Their bedding, shower items, food and clothing were also removed, according to family members who participated in the intervention.

“They would use the blankets to hide underneath so they didn’t have to come out,” Jordan’s new wife would later testify.

The court-ordered intervention failed to reconcile the boys with their father, and beginning in January a judge convened a four-day hearing to understand why. The testimony that followed offered a rare glimpse into Turning Points’ operations and methods, as well as how family courts handle complicated family dynamics.

Programs are first and foremost a scam oriented around offering a service to a parent. There is nothing therapeutic about "hide your symptoms or we will torture you more" or "pretend you like this parent until you turn 18 or we'll torture you more." But by now you know that, dear reader.

No clue. I can say that there is a noticeable trend among younger, more recent survivors in r/TroubledTeens that are presenting gender problems.

EDIT: God, this fucks me up. I really, really hope it's just so much enby shit, since that's much easier to fix. At the same time, I can't just tell someone "doubling down on having broccoli hair, getting fatter, getting more pale from not going outside, not shutting about gender or whatever, and moping and trying to paper over your problems by doctor shopping therapists who enable you is making your shit worse, get real help and work on your shit." So instead I have to just go "there there" and watch someone make mistakes that I know will fuck them up so, so, so much worse than dealing with reality and reaching out to people to socialize. Fuck.

I never fell for genderfuckery when I was a teen or a twenty something. I did hide from the world. This is that, but so much worse, and all I can fucking do is watch. God dammit. You don't get those years back! I hope, hope, hope it's just junk food and sitting on their ass, bad haircuts and the 'enby' brainworm. That's removable.

If they get butchered, they're fucked all over again.

Plenty are hulking ogres. One from Ivy Ridge was former NFL. There are also plenty of stupid manlets too. Some aren't stupid, instead just tolerant of a shit wage to diddle teenagers or kids. Also I think it's all from the same idiot fucker staffer at Casa, but I'm not sure.

Even if I had a taped confession from Amy Ritchie, for instance, I'd have to put it somewhere else before dropping it here. People are faggots. I'd love it if Null would feature this thread but given how horrifying it is, I can understand why he has not.

If you or someone else finds some good dirt, POST THAT SHIT, and it will percolate to more savory channels. Also, we get to call them niggerfaggots here, which is funny.

The best thing KF can do is be a third place to drop things where we know nothing will ever be deleted, and it's damn good at that. Kudos to Null for standing up for this. FWIW the way things are playing out, it might not be necessary, but I am not going to let another 2008 happen, where Congress does a big hearing and then there's nothing but a wet fart. Survivors are rallying, the lid's blown off, and even if people think KF is icky, the info is here forever.

Back to advocacy and activism, I will say the following:
  • Many a kiwi has come forward in a dm saying they were in such a place. I see you. I encourage you to speak up or make a sock and speak up but you do you.
  • This thread's information is about as safe as it can be and will remain that way for the foreseeable future. If KF goes down it will be in the torrent, too.
  • Many people have volunteered to help in dm and all I've said is to just talk about this shit (with the links and archives, of course) and arguments I've laid out.
  • Survivors themselves (not that we don't want help, we do) are leading things right now anyway, so the only thing to do is get people talking about it and wait on legal things to play out, which they are. Oh, they are.
The doc's been out for barely more than a month. People are still starting to remember, dig up old paperwork, put things together, digitize things on paper, and various legal gears are starting to turn.

If you or someone else you know really wants to help, by all means, do so, but keep in mind because of the age of the typical survivor who is in a place to do something about it - we're millennials - it's going to be on Facebook groups. Tough. Make a sock puppet, find a TTI/WWASPS/Ivy Ridge survivor group, join up, look around, show some support, SAVE AND ARCHIVE EVERYTHING, talk to people who don't know about this yet, and be ready to pace yourself.

Reddit has r/troubledteens/ but it fucking sucks. Reddit sucks. The mods there suck and don't really do what survivors want, they're sucking reddit admin cock and trying to gently steer parents away from programs, but they're dumb and one of the mods is ex staff for fuck's sake.

On a happier note, a lot of podcasts/streams/etc are starting up. Most promisingly, male survivors are leading this, since the emotive appeals we already see in text and on YouTube are dominated by women for obvious sociological reasons. Men tend to do better with filling up dead air with jokes and bullshit and shitposting and memes between accounts of what they saw or went through, and a few of those shows are coming along quite nicely.

Two guys from Ivy Ridge are doing something called "Porchfix" (one of them said pitchforks the wrong way while on a rant and it stuck) and it looks like they're getting some legs. It's mostly been male survivors, of course, but they're having women on soon - they might get Paris Hilton, might not. Don't know. She's this weirdly wholesome patron, but I have noticed that she tends to stick to a little clique of women for reasons that should be obvious. It's also low-key hilarious to see her character drop and it's suddenly the real person, but she's still in the Barbie™ character's clothes and digs.

I'll conclude with something that people still seem to get confused with: This is NOT just WWASPS, this is NOT just Ivy Ridge. The industry is huge, ongoing, and this is far from over. Ivy Ridge is in the spotlight because of the documentary, but it is not the biggest or the worst, not that it matters. This is ongoing, but without any practical way to have survivors walk into a currently occupied program, it's a bit tricky to do the same kind of documentary Katherine did.
