List all of the fictional "Dystopias" that are actually better than our current world

Related to Bachman: The Long Walk. Because it's a lesser known Stephen King book, it's about a contest in which 100 teenage boys compete by walking until there's only one left, who gets whatever they want. If they slow down too much or just give up, they get shot. Think about how beneficial this would be for society. 100 fucking retards who know they have a 99% chance of dying get removed from the gene pool.
That would be terrible, because in the book the idea is that these are mostly desperate kids, those who need to prove something, etc. and the reward is enormous, ostensibly greater than winning the lottery. It's anything you want.

The participants may only have a 1% chance of winning, but society has a 100% chance of one long-legged hood negro or Appalachian white trash teenager winning more power than most Top 500 CEOs. The damage done by that would be way greater than any benefit of losing 99 undesirables.

It's a little odd but I don't think the reader is meant to put a lot of thought into that part. It's about the drama of the walk itself.

Honestly- this is less of a fictional dystopia, but 1940s and 50s America (even the 30s)

Its portrayed as a dystopia for black people and minorities in particular, but even for them

Theres less crime in their communities, less crack, families are more structured, fathers more likely to stay, housing is cheaper, black businesses are segregated but they actually exist and cater to their own communities

Whereas criminality is now championed, black business owners are almost non existant, more abortions, less kids graduating from school relative to white kids than before, etc.

Theres problems, but unironically something went wrong post-segregation for blacks, and I don't think they realize it.

You could honestly look at the later half of the 20th century for minorities in particular, whether in the former colonial world or the US, as a disaster. Its essentially like watching children rebel against their parents authority, and then have no idea what to do with freedom and immediately turn to drugs. Yeah its possible there were some abusive situations with those parents, but people literally threw away the bath with the bathwater.

It makes you realize that half the former colonial arguments of "We have to make sure the state here is stable before we even think about leaving" were pretty right

The murder rate back then was significantly higher than it is now and there was no help for women and children who were being abused. If you were black the KKK could murder you and would probably get a slap on the wrist, if that.

Plus most of the people who post here would've been shoved in asylums and left to rot at an early age.

Does Jurassic Park count as a dystopia? That's one universe superior to the real one. Plus abusive men can just be fed to dinosaurs.

Speaking of Starship Troopers and its' Terran Federation, the parody of it in the Helldivers setting doesn't seem so bad either. Sure you may get sent to Freedom Camp for thinking Super Earth's Managed Democracy is a bit too managed but so do criminals. Also, housing is affordable and interstellar colonization is cool.

WRONG

Idiocracy, the president is legitimately working for the people, and when he comes across a problem he has no idea how to solve, he calls on the world's smartest man.

This seems less offensive than many Hollywood projects.
