That leads me to believe Mono settled with the cheapest option and possibly rushed the guy. It looks like the artist put way more time and effort into these drawings.

He got a different artist or the Bai Dong Suk and Bai Nara illustrations. This one does really wierd illustrations

download a free copy of GIMP, download a free copy of blender and you're good to go
There is a ton of youtube videos on comics, mangas, drawing, colouring so there's no excuse.

Krita works better for drawing to be honest, I've used GIMP once and was put off by it's UI.
