RIP Rico Wade and Mister Cee

Two famed hip hop producers who would help pave the way for success on their respective coasts — Southern hip-hop and East Coast hip-hop.

They also were responsible for creating hits for the respective rap legends like OutKast and Goodie Mob (Wade), as well as The Notorious B.I.G (Cee).

pop-culture factoids
(Perhaps) interestingly, the definition of "factoid" has drifted. Now it seems to mean "inconsequential fact," but initially it meant a false/incorrect "fact" that people believed because of it being repeated in the media over and over due to poor research or press releases.

I just don't get how all of these new articles get this part of the story so wrong. A.C. Cowlings, O.J's friend and former NFL teammate was the one driving, and owned, the Bronco. He famously was even on a phone call with the police during the whole chase. I mean, for fucks sake, that was legitimately one of the top cultural image moments from the 90s, it was seen by over 100 million people live on almost every news channel, and it interrupted the NBA finals. Journoscum who pride themselves on taking every opportunity they can to "fact-check" their opponents can't be bothered to get even the most basic and well-known pop-culture factoids correct. Some do, but I think Cowlings is more a footnote in the whole saga, like how cops found cash, a passport, and I believe a disguise, everything regarding the chase rules inadmissible as evidence, and apparently the reason OJ didn’t kill himself was because his John McKay, his old coach at USC, called him and OJ promised him he “wouldn’t do anything stupid”. (May have to fact check that last one though, I’ve only heard it in passing.)

If the people vs. series is any indication, AC basically copied everything OJ did. They both had the same model and color Bronco.

“Kate was a joy to coach and to be around. Her smile could light up a room, and she was beloved by all of her UKDT teammates,” said UK Dance Team head coach Dawn Walters.

“We are all saddened by Kate’s passing. We will remember her for the tough battle she fought with osteosarcoma over the past year. She was brave until the very end and all of us can draw inspiration from the courageous battle that she fought. Our thoughts, prayers, and love are with the Kaufling family.”
The Kentucky athletic department also released a statement marking the passing of the beloved dance team member.

“In addition to being a talented dancer, Kate was also an amazing student, in the College of Nursing, who took her academics very seriously,” Sandy Bell, UK executive associate athletics director, said in a statement.
“Even during her cancer treatments, Kate kept up with her studies, setting an amazing example for her teammates. Kate was beloved by all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed. On behalf of UK Athletics, we send our deepest sympathies to Holly, Steve, Abbey, and the entire Kaufling family.”

Kaufling was a nursing major with a 4.0 GPA. She is survived by her parents, Holly and Steve Kaufling, and her twin sister, Abbey, who is also a UK dance team member.
