Ncuti Gatwa, the first Black Doctor Who, was extremely outspoken in a new interview.

Gatwa is an LGBTQ Rwandan immigrant to the U.K. and made his comments to the magazine Attitude for its May/June issue.

Asked about backlash on his assuming the role of Doctor Who, he said that it’s all part of a shift. “We do see a shift happening in casting, in positions of power and in the status quo. I mean, not a fast shift, things could tip over the other way a little bit quicker. But you see people kind of malfunctioning because things are changing.”

Ncuti talked of his battle for acceptance. “There’s so much White mediocrity that gets celebrated, and Black people, we have to be absolutely flawless to get half of [that] anyway. So, I’m slowly training myself out of that and being like, ‘No sh–. You deserve love just for existing.’”

Gatwa was asked about the U.K.’s struggle with gender diversity and trans identities.

"Everything trickles down from the top, and when you see politicians openly attacking marginalized communities, when you see our politicians openly attacking trans people, it makes it OK for everyone else,” Gatwa said. “And it is scary to see that we’ve got to a point where it is fine to attack vulnerable people because that’s essentially what’s happening. People who are the most vulnerable, the most disenfranchised, most disconnected from everyone else are being told that they are the threats.”

He added, “It’s sick because it’s a hiding away of your own ineptitude. You’re going to put the blame on immigrants, Black and Brown people, trans people, queer people, to hide the fact that you are not doing anything for people? It’s easier to just create discord amongst people. It’s divide and conquer, isn’t it?”

Gatwa said that “We’ve got to keep pushing for more. Lots and lots and lots and lots more diversity, lots more inclusion on our screen. Lots and lots and lots of it for all you male gamons out there!”

In U.K. slang, the term “gamon” refers to the color of a person’s flushed face when expressing their strong opinions, as compared to the type of pork of the same name.

What is this fucking retard on about? The prime minister is Indian, the government is stacked with minorities and women, the Scottish prime minister is Pakistani, he has taken one of the (previously) most recognisable British TV roles after a retard woman had it.

How are minorities struggling? Is he mad that a white majority country has more white people in most roles? The sheer audacity to move to a county you are not native to, keep your jungle name, and moan that everyone is not like your shithole jungle roots is getting to me now.
They're going to keep up this seething lie until they drive Whites to extinction. The Jew cries out as he strikes you, even when doing so through his golem.

Kiwibros, I swear I read this article a year ago or one or five like it.

Bunch of ungrateful immigrants. Coming from an immigrant. It's like they take this shit for granted.

Whatever.

How many kids did this guy rape?

The UK and its awful racism. Remind me again, why did his family come here?

Oh. Right. Because they were murdering people like his family en mass based on ethnicity.
I think "Ethnic Cleansing" needs to make a big comeback but instead in these 'rich countries'. It's not white nationalism it's just taking out the trash.

Yeah, and that old DW spoof from the 1980s was more funny.

lol

this was funny

I like the idea of people not watching woke media and the people making it complaining about it
So, the show has become a literal parody of itself from the 80's except the parody is actually better and more faithful to the show than the show itself.

This nigga lookin' ZESTY, this nigga lookin' MOIST, he's got sugar in his tank, he's light on his feet, he's a Ill bit fruity, he plays for the other team, he dances at the other end of the ballroom, this nigga theatrical, this nigga good with colors, this nigga gonna coordinate yo curtains wit you cushions and that shit gonna look good! This nigga lifts shirts, this nigga on the down low, this nigga be a tollet trader, this nigga gardens uphill, this nigga packs fudge, he's a friend of Dorothy, he feels the love that dare not speak Its name, he loves to dance, he's of the Uranian brotherhood, he indulges in the French vice, he has an antipathic sexual Instinct, he's fluent in Polari, he's a refugee from Sodom, he's on the wrong bus, he bats for the other team, he's temperamental, he's 'one of if you catch my drift.

There's any number of good black British actors who could've done the job better. Paterson Joseph or Chiwetel Ejiofor come to mind. But they weren't shagging RTD, and that's the deciding factor.
Made me think about how Christopher Eccleston (the 9th Doctor) openly HATES RTD and the other producers of Doctor Who. I mean its been what 20 years since he did the show and the wounds haven't healed.
“I didn’t enjoy the environment and the culture that we, the cast and crew, had to work in.”

He added, “I wasn’t comfortable. I thought ‘If I stay in this job, I’m going to have to blind myself to certain things that I thought were wrong.'”
What happened around Doctor Who almost destroyed my career. I gave them a hit show and I left with dignity and then they put me on a blacklist. I was carrying my own insecurities as it was something I had never done before and then I was abandoned, vilified in the tabloid press and blacklisted. I was told by my agent at the time: ‘The BBC regime is against you. You’re going to have to get out of the country and wait for regime change.’ So I went away to America and I kept on working because that’s what my parents instilled in me.”
I mean this boils down to hearsay, but after Saville & Weinstein anything is plausible.

All this guy did was get fucked by Russel T Davies for the roll. When I saw the casting announcement I figured Davies was just casting for his show and sextape at the same time.
It's pretty transparent isn't it?

I was vaguely considering watching some of new-Who because the last one was absolutely dire, but from the sounds of that Attitude interview they're going to make "the Doctor experiences racism" a continuing theme. Which I guess makes sense given some of the historical eras they're going to -

- but instead of visiting historical periods where a black man sticks out like a sore thumb, they could do literally anything else and spare us the lecture.
