US Man shot, killed by police in Tukwila hotel believed he was meeting 2 girls under 12 years old

The suspect who was killed by police inside a Tukwila hotel was a suspect in a case of crimes against children.

On Wednesday, Seattle Police Department officers were conducting an operation at the hotel as part of the department's Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce. During the operation, officers shot and killed a 67-year-old suspect who believed he was going to meet two young girls, ages 7 and 11, in a hotel room.

New body camera footage shows SPD officers inside a hotel room at the DoubleTree Suites in Tukwila. They are seen opening the door to confront the suspect when he quickly pulls a handgun out of his jacket.

Several gunshots were heard on the video. The suspect died at the scene.

One officer was grazed by a bullet and was treated on the scene for minor injuries.

The shooting happened around 3 p.m. and several people heard the shots or saw it happen.

A hotel guest from Texas in the area for business told KING 5 he had to barricade himself in the hotel kitchen.

"I heard a loud pop, I assumed it might have been maintenance. Seconds later, another pop and after that, a rapid succession of gunfire," Erik Wehrmeister said. "I turned around and saw someone shooting downward into the floor, and that's when I made a run for the kitchen into the corridor and barricaded in one of the offices."

Considering he was shot a couple dozen times, he probably had a lot of combustible stuff in him.

I'm not sure if I would agree, if you look at the smoke from another angle I think from body cam 1 you can see it's streaming straight up fast and voluminous from one spot like a smoke bomb. I've rapid fired good ammo as well as Russian and 40 year old Alb*nian stuff and never have seen anything like that. (Just paper targets trees and trash and stuff though, I didn't know where any pedos were) I saw a YouTube comment thinking maybe a li-ion phone battery got hit? I've never seen that happen before and maybe it does look like a smoke bomb pretty instantly but I dunno.

I know a lot of people think the excessive amount of bullets was unjustified but you have to remember it's a high energy situation, it's not like the movies where someone gets shot and falls down dramatically. Adrenaline can keep you fighting even with 2-3 bullets in you and the cop was dealing with a life or death scenario, being spitting distance to someone drawing/firing a gun. It's easy to criticise someone when you're not in the heat of the moment yourself.
