Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

I liked the settlement building in Fallout 4, I even modded extra settlements into it, I built them and even had a little headcanon for each, like some being Gunner bases, Railroad safehouses etc. I'd even add the settlers to their respective faction using the console.
I was looking forward to this in Starfield I was already planning to install a ton of mods, have some colonies be Imperial (Star Wars) colonies, have Halo marines on other, etc.
Then Bethesda fucked up the settlement system, and the mods and any real interest I had is pretty much gone at this point.

What are the chances of Todd making Starfield anime?
On more serious note, are there any leaks about supposed DLC? All they ever said about it is its name and that it's totally being made guise!

They already made some bullshit faux anime shorts for the marketing, I'm pretty sure. So it wouldn't surprise me at this point.

I know it pisses people off, but there's a reason I mark the "Starfield is dead and will never recover" posts as optimistic.

Edit: This is one of them

No Man's Sky had nothing there at the start, so it was comparatively easy to improve it over 8(?) years. Cyberpunk had a solid foundation and a massively overblown backlash, so it was relatively easy to tune it over 3 years and a mostly segregated expansion. Starfield, on the the other hand, has a lot to it, it's just all shit, and no way is even a dumbass like Phil Spencer going to give Bethesda the time and money to build basically a brand new game to give out for free.

They'd do some hardcore marketing

They'd change the perk system

They'd make an expansion that focuses on a single area on the Varuun homeworld that creates a world space and dungeons like in Skyrim

And that could be enough to make people clap like seals.

You have way too much faith in normies. Hell, for the most part I'm still not convinced normies hate Starfield as much as gay Youtube essayists, Sony fanboys and redditors like to portray tbqh.

However, I agree with you that they'll probably not think it worth it.

Starfield may have made enough money on the special edition sales to not be a complete disaster, it certainly never got delisted or mass refunds like Cyberpunk had to deal with so that may have helped.

And it would probably make more sense to focus money and time into Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 because that's what normies *really* want.

There is no way that Starfield directly made back its budget. $400million in development alone and that's just what Microsoft will admit. Then marketing costs on top of that which are AAA title level. Microsoft Gamepass then cannibalizing sales even further (some stats show that not even a quarter of players have more than 20 minutes of playtime in the game). Refunds. Cost of purchasing Bethesda and exclusivity for Starfield. Long term loss of goodwill for Bethesda and even things like Elder Scrolls or Fallout.

Starfield is not going to be like Halo. Where Microsoft purchased the entire property at its creation and turned it into a franchise juggernaut and system seller with spinoffs and toys and board games and a television show (that is trash obviously). Where it had a ridiculous near unreachable peak. Starfield is almost dead on arrival. Flash on the pan not even. They must have been insane to think that this would be their next Halo or God of War or Mario level franchise.

Elder Scrolls VI
My predictions:
>No attributes
>No numerical skills
>Just perks separated in sections of magica, combat and stealth, just like starfield
>If classes exist they are meaningless just like starfield
>Races are even more uniform than Skyrim
>No gender differences
>Writing is the usual Emil Pagliarulo sludge, with a added We Wuz Kangs and Sheet for flavor
>The OST is generic as fuck (if starfield is any indication) because the Skyrim composer got me too'ed
>No improvements on UI whatsoever; specially on PC
>More worthless base building
>No reputation system
>The usual and lazy bounty system
>An avalanche of essential NPCs
>95% of daedric quests consist of "kill my old champion, and get the gear from his body"
>Dungeons are just Skyrim corridors

I don't think MS plans to make money on sales of Starfield, they want to get in on the ground floor and monopolize the modding community. Unfortunately, no one is going to make mods for a game that sucks! And with each passing day without the tools or even an update on the DLC, the chance that anyone is going to even be interested in modding this POS grows slimmer and slimmer.

Too late, these mods and the pronoun removal ones were made mere days after the game came out already lol

and Nexus, being the politically bias site that it is, did what any mod site would do in this situation and threw a temper tantrum about the mods after banning them.

Starfield Players Annoyed by 'Lazy' NPC Detail (Gamerant Archive)

In a double feature of "Absolute lack of things to talk about regarding Starfield" and "Worst of gaming journalism", we have an article from Gamerant talking about a "recent" lazy discovery about Starfield NPC's.

The discovery? All of the child models are identical, something that even the diehard Starfield loyalists have complained about since day fucking one.

It's funny, I think in Skyrim all the children had the same face as well. You need mods to make them look distinguishable from each other.

My prediction is that you won't even have Body 1 Body 2 choice, you will only have one androgynus body with sliders for waist and chest, and then selection of pronouns. They are already experimenting with it in Pokemon Go.

There's remnants of a (slightly, it's still Bethesda) better game in Starfield.
  • All the fucking tritium storage tubes in random kitchens were obviously supposed to be oxygen dispensers for spacesuits to matter, just like the environmental hazard system which currently does nothing.
  • Ships were meant to need fuel, so the jump range of ships was supposed to matter and resource management an important part of exploration, which was meant to be an important part of the game.
  • The garbage pointless base building was meant to facilitate this, and there's remnants of a space station construction system that was probably going to extend your logistics.
So the Starflight/Star Control 3/Noctis elements should have had some actual purpose and it's probably possible to cobble a more compelling game out of the vestigial bits.
But I 100% agree they're incapable, and they won't, because they dumbed them down in the first place because they didn't think their core audience had the mental capacity. And they're probably right but they're still fucking incompetent.

This is a studio run by a guy who saw playtesters jumping->jetpacking constantly to slightly speed up traversal of their empty-ass worlds and thought "haha it's like they're addicted to jumping!" and added that as a snarky joke in-game (and proudly repeated in interviews) instead of fixing the fucking stamina system or any of the gameplay reasons players have to do it. They're oblivious.

What magic? Todd keeps nerfing it into the ground.
TES6 continuing the downwards trend of magic functionality to nigh unusable status while setting the game in Hammerfell of all places will be some meme shit. Conversely, the 1/100000000 chance that they actually make the system great again will be some doctors and lawyers clown world nonsense. No matter what they do, they're gonna get made fun of, all because of the presumed boneheaded decision to set the game in fucking Hammerfell. Redguards aren't even really proper niggers but no doubt Bethesda is hell bent on making them so.

There's no fix coming for Starfield. Todd did not even read Starfield reviews before starting pre-production in ES6. They never read reviews before starting the production of a new game. That's why everything that is awful about Fallout 4 is also awful in Starfield. They don't give a fuck.

This company does not even give bug fixes for remasters of 10 year old games, but they will remake a entire perk tree? No, they literally defended the perk tree in the steam reviews. They will not fix the game, because in their view, the game is perfect.

The gamers are clearly wrong and racist. All hail Todd!
