Teachers ‘afraid to go to school’ after harassment from pronoun lesson, district says

Days after a Michigan school district announced it would offer an optional lesson for elementary school students to learn about gender pronouns, it said it would cancel the discussion because of “unacceptable” harassment.

DeWitt Public Schools said in a Facebook post the purpose of the “safe and respectful” mini-lesson was to “promote greater understanding, compassion and kindness regarding gender identity and the use of pronouns.”

Students in the voluntary discussion were to listen to the book “They She He Me Free to Be!” according to a letter sent to parents. The book, its publisher says, offers “fun imagery” and allows children to expand their ideas about gender.

They would practice using the pronouns “they” and “them” and would learn what to do if they use a wrong pronoun, officials said.

The lesson was set to be taught over the course of a few weeks, the district said. It was short-lived, however.

On April 19 — eight days after the course was announced and two days after its public Facebook post — DeWitt Public Schools announced it would cancel the course.

The district said staff members at the school were threatened over phone, email and social media.

“Some staff members have had their personal information, including information regarding their families and children, placed online to harass and intimidate them, a cyberbullying practice called ‘doxing,’” district Superintendent Shanna Spickard said. “While the vast majority of these inappropriate communications have originated outside of our community, several staff members have expressed feeling anxious, stressed, and even afraid to go to school. This is unacceptable.”

Police were notified about the communications and an increased police presence was placed at the school, according to the superintendent. She said the discourse over the voluntary lesson “became a major disruption and distraction.”

While the district received harassing messages, Spickard said the pronoun discussion also received an “outpouring of support.” But she said “legitimate safety concerns” caused the ending of the course.

State Rep. Steve Carra, a Republican serving Michigan’s 36th District, was among those who voiced displeasure about the lesson.

“Hire me to teach the kids. ‘Little Jack, you’re a boy even if you pretend to be a girl. Other people shouldn’t be forced to pretend along with you. Your pronouns are he/him,’” Carra said in an April 16 Facebook post. “Great, now back to reading, writing, and arithmetic…”

Libs Of TikTok, a far right-leaning social media page, also denounced the pronoun discussion. A video it shared on X, formerly Twitter, has more than 2 million views as of Monday, April 22.

“Homeschool your kids,” the group said without acknowledging the lesson was optional.

DeWitt is a suburb of Lansing and is about a 115-mile drive northwest of Detroit.

And savedmilliond of lives more and improved the quality of life for the Chinese people, at least in respect to the opium crisis. We should absolutely do the same thing in regard to the supply side in the drug problem, and regarding a whole lot more besides. Colonel Kurtz was not altogether wrong in the abstract when he surmised how "our troubles would be over very quicky" if we embraced drastic, effective measures to eradicate the problems before us.
>citing a Nazi
My guy, you are a parody sketch. Also China is still hell on earth. People still throwing themselves off factory roofs because life is shit. Also they are a enemy of the US. Association with them is traitorous.

>the only times chinese population declined in the last billion years: great leap forward and now, both brought to you by maoism

what do you think toothbrush moustache would say about your simping for a commie? you remember that guy? the guy whose drastic measures got 75% of germany turned to rubble and got ~13 million germans killed? the guy who got the superior race of germanic aryan manhood bitchslapped so hard it turned them into the balls-chopped manlets they are today? drastic and effective indeed. hey man if only you were reichskanzler and fuhrer it all woulda worked out...

This is one reason I have you muted. I never commented abou life in China, Chinese cultural values, or anything other than endorse Mao's approach on the opium crisis,.which I do. I also love how Singapore does things, but you'd need a bit of Mao's heavy handed touch to achieve the stability to the point where drug traffickers are simply executed upon conviction in a society that does not suffer a series of drug epidemics. I marvel that you try to make an appeal to flag waving patriotism with me. Do you think I am a fan of Lee Greenwood?

A field sobriety test is also technically optional, but you know what happens if you refuse. You just aren't trusted to not punish kids for refusal at this point. I'm sure you'd not be so bold to do it explicitly, but there's a lot of ways a teacher can mess with a kid covertly since they're in a position of power over them.

Mao IS China. And you are sucking him off. So yes, you DID comment on life in China, you pussy faggot that needs to hit the mute button any time someone tells him "commie bullshit is gay". You must have gotten bullied a fuck ton as a kid if you're that cowardly. You shirk at the sight of a Anime PfP. Loser.

I don't see why people are getting mad about this statement, it's true. Just apply the absolute ruthlessness to another acceptable hated group like, say, paedophiles. People would be all for hunting down every nonce they could find while the rest live in abject terror, too afraid to even look at a child lest the death squads come knocking. Mao was a commie retard and his zeal for human death caused more human suffering than it solved, but so and so are right in that his actions did end the opium addiction ravaging his people. Duterte (possibily) and Bukele are similarly ruthless in going after criminals but they seem to be doing a fair job of trying to improve life for civilians. Short term cracking down = better standard of living for law-abiding people in the long run.

But this is an entirely different kettle of fish. Teachers should be getting absolutely shit on and mocked ruthlessly, so the kids are doing a great job. Teachers have been weaponized against our youth so I'm liking that these kids recognize their weakness. Not overly optimistic it'll last, the rot is pervasive and has been for many decades but kids seeing through this shit warms the cockles of my hateful little heart. Don't give in, children, keep up that vicious mockery.

Because invoking Mao immediately invalidates your argument because he's actually evil that killed well over 50 million people. Were all of them druggies or pedophiles, or were they simply not communist? Mao is evil and I'm tired of pretending he isn't.

He ended the opium crisis that plagued China for centuries. Or are you the sort who eschews the Autobahn and Volkswagen because ...

His colectivist policies also caused 40,000,000-60,000,000 to starve to death, and he killed at least another 10,000,000 as political dissidents. Communism is literally the deadliest form of government the world has ever seen.

Shh, be careful, that kind of talk will get grumpy Norbert to block you because he's only a paper tiger

"anything other than" includes communism. Also consider that Chinese civilization and other far east civilizations value human life differently. You can say what you want about Mao, but he led China out of "several bad centuries." If Europe and the West continue this beeline to racial and civliazational ruin, China will be the world's great power.
