DTs is a lot more serious, has as much as a 50% fatality rate if untreated, and usually starts 48 hours after stopping drinking. No way Nick has stopped drinking that long any time in recent memory. He was obviously too drunk even to call into a Zoom hearing earlier the very same day. That is DTs. Absolutely zero doubt in my mind. Looks like the taper down shakes between the first and third drinks of the day.
They should have subsided after the third drink, if anyone cares to check.
This is just the shakes, pretty standard for an alcoholic, but it isn't DTs, which involve hallucinations, seizures, coma and death. Not just the stray ceiling cat here and there, but realistic hallucinations like monsters and demons. Not just a bit of shaking that goes away, but flat out tonic-clonic seizures.
That was my initial thought, but that's not what the judge said on video. The judge said it was a no-show.To play devil's advocate, it's possible they paid the fine after changing their mind about challenging the ticket and the court hadn't received it yet. I'd assume government inefficiency just as quick I would Nick dropping the ball.
And he didn't even call in "sick." My guess is he was so obviously drunk he could have been held in contempt for it.
