Culture Transphobes are doxxing Stardew Valley fans after they asked the game developer for pronouns

Stardew Valley players have been targeted with doxxing and abuse for asking the game’s developer to add pronouns.

In October, fans began requesting that developer Eric Barone – aka ConcernedApe – add pronouns to the farm-life sim game, as a way to better represent non-binary players.

A petition was created by fan Atmos Fierce, which has garnered more than 8,600 signatures.

However, the call has resulted in abuse from anti-LGBTQ+ fans of the game, who have targeted streamers and members of the community by either purposefully misgendering them, sending abuse, or doxxing them.

Doxxing refers to the act of sharing private information such as a home address, phone number, or other identifiable details, publicly on the internet.

Transgender streamers appear to be the main target of the abuse, with some users telling them to “be careful” playing Stardew Valley while the controversy continues to rumble on.

Barone’s silence has been “deafening”, one person claimed.



“Transphobes are doxxing and harassing members of your Stardew Valley community simply because they are advocating for a pronoun update,” the user wrote. “It is extremely important for you to speak up for them.”

The lack of response has led some to suggest a boycott of the game until either a statement is made or pronouns are added to the game.

“I truly do not care if ConcernedApe speaks on pronouns in the game any more,” one user said. “I want [him] to condemn the transphobia and violence against the trans members of the community.”

An affiliate for the streaming site, Twitch, said they would not be playing the game any longer because of Barone’s lack of response.

“It does not feel right for me to continue streaming or playing Stardew Valley,” they wrote. “It truly breaks my heart to see the amount of people getting hurt.”

Shit like this has already happened in so many communities. Ape has been very apolitical throughout the years, which has greatly annoyed the people of gender and color. I know some people were mad he never screeched about St Floyd for example.

Before the the 1.6 update, gender people were talking about the update adding special genders like it was a certain thing. They were honestly surprised when the update arrived without any new gender options. I wondered if they would retaliate against Ape, and unfortunately they did. Journo scum pushing the narrative that Ape ignores violent abuse against troons, and liking him to this site, it pretty bad. This has been simmering in the background for a long time, and now it's boiling over. I'm curious to see if Ape will bend the knee for once, or if he will stay silent like usual.

Imagine how fucking lame you gotta be to get upset over the dialog in a video game. Like the game let's you wear whatever clothes or hairstyle you want. There's 0 things of that nature that are gender specific with the exception of the fucking pronouns in the dialog. Startdew is for normies and I mean that in the best way, it's a game for everyone and will continue to sell well and see the longevity it has regadless what the rainbow folk do. They aren't some backbone of the game and if anything there an after thought entirely. They may get a few loser to write some bad words and run there bullshit stories but the game will never cease to receive anything other than critical acclaim.


It's rare when a game comes out that appeals to absolute everyone. It may not be something you've ever played but the more you dig the more you find something for you in it. For a group of people who are about inclusiveness they sure as shit love to ruin experiences that include everyone. Gay as fuck to no one's surprise.

The game is charming and part of that is its dialog and he/she is fine for that. Adding in a bunch of ambiguous gender jargon to appease these people ruins that charm.

Even worse is the amount of work they expect this dude to continue to do for a game they've paid for ONCE. Near 10 years of constant development, and they still want more. There never happy. Even lamer is they do this as the dude has been busy working on making a free update that adds even more fucking content into the game. Pc, xbox/ps4, switch/mobile, dudes doing all this work to bring more and more opportunity for people to enjoy this game and they still aren't fucking happy.


It truly is always about them. They can't just be proud of something awesome that unites people until they open there dumb fucking mouths to bitch. Absolutely zero people care.

How come its just the pronouns? Aren't some people recovering alcoholics? Suicide survivors? Should Shane's story come with a trigger warning? I mean he all but attempts suicide and it isnt even implied.

What about all the abused people who come from ptsd military families? Surely we should tone down Kent's psychotic cold sweat and flashback having ass.

What about all those adopted kids who with identity issues? Should we just take out Abigails confusion as to who her father is?

I mean the shadow wars and the dwarf wars parallel the nuances of the kikes vs watermelon folk. Should we rewrite that as well? Not to mention the topic of the actual human war and slaughter that is going on in stardew universe.

Every single fucking aspect of the individual story has faults that irk someone somewhere I'm sure. That's the beauty of the game is that nobody or nothing is perfect and it is up to how YOU play the game and approach life DESPITE those things that matters and makes for a healthy and happy life.

They come for stardew I will riot. Do what you want with your mods. Leave the vanilla game alone.
