People still care about pokemon GO? I lost interest in it after a year from launch due to it being among a wave of many many many GENWUN pandering choices TPCI was making at the time with no plans to add more until it recieved backlash over the lack of pokemon.

My apathy and disappointment stems from the fact they marketed it like there would be Gen 4 pokemon at launch and was hilariously barebones for years afterwards. Took something like 3 years to add gen 2 pokemon i heard and suddenly they’re all caught up almost a decade later.

Kanto exhaustion is like the pokemon equivalent of Nigger fatigue. I’m sick of hearing about it. I don’t even like Gen V or X/Y but I’m just happy its not Kanto and they’re getting a legends game.

Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh had some great Pokemon, but Kanto is the only generation that generates money because Pikachu, and Charizard are more memorable and marketable than all of Paldea's Pokemon. Pikachu is the face of Pokemon for most people, and I don't know if replacing him in New Horizons anime is gonna work (The Pokemon adventures manga had different main Pokemon depending on the story). I don't think you make anyone or anything from SV likable. All that said, this shitty Kanto event isn't going to bring back players who told Pokemon Go to fuck off (My friends list is already full of people who quit the game over the updates and raid passes).

I don't play GO, and I haven't talked to my friend in a while who still plays it, so I have no idea if the update was automatic upon restart. I just can't believe they turned everyone into an Oblivion character against their will.

Its 'member berries pandering. Pokemon was a phenomenon back when Red/Blue was released in the west. Add the anime with it's catchy 2B A Master soundtrack and the 1st movie leaving it's mark on people along with the collectable trading cards, and you basically had the merchandising version of crack cocaine. Shit didn't die down until Gen2, where only the hardcores stayed, but everyone else moved onto the next "big" thing, and that hardcore audience that was around since the 1st gen is basically why that generation keeps getting shoved into EVERYTHING, even in shit it has no business being a part of.

The "Those were the Pokemon I grew up with, so they are objectively the best" mindset is why the other generations suffer so much, not only because of the people hardcore defending that generation, but GF/TPC themselves giving those pokemon way more support and value than any of the new pokemon they create, so at this point why even bother making new mons? And it's not just The starters and pikachu either, almost half of the Gen1 dex have had Mega Evolutions, exclusive z-moves, regional forms, and/or Gigantamax forms. It's gotten way out of fucking hand to where the O.G. gen1 isn't even recognizeable or even used anymore because Garfield the Persian, or Ice Kitsune, or The Tauros Brothers 3 get's used more than the regular pokemon that were supposedly loved by Gen Oners.

GF/TPC should have put their foot down after Gen2 and been like "New pokemon come first and foremost and the past pokemom take a back seat", but by the time they did decide to do that in Gen5 it was too late, and the rot had already seeped in, which is why we have a shitty sequel game to Black and White.

They also need to get an artist that doesn't suck.

Nigga, until 5, they thought each generation was going to be the last. Also, Black and White 2, despite having the safer Pokédex, we’re objectively better than Black and White 1.

I am. During the Pokémon GO fad, I was waiting until all of the glitches were fixed, since I heard tha the game was very buggy.

...I kinda wish I actually entered, since I already miss the AR features.

It was an okayish social experience to go with groups of players IRL during the fad. Though was more likely to encounter other people with sun/moon at the time or play a mainline pokemon game.

I miss the Sugimori watercolor art so much it's unreal. It made things seem more authentic.
The TCG art has been really hit or miss. Nothing as nostalgic as the gen 1-3 sets except for some Sun/Moon cards.

I remember everyone being excited about Johto mons coming to GO during that time.

What does that have to do with not adding past gen pokemon?

Even if that was the case, the continuity of the games are fucked due to the inclusion of past pokemon. If Hoenn is supposed to take place at the same time Gen1 Kanto takes place, wtf are Gen2 pokemon doing in the Pokedex?

Black2/White2 adds some nice features, and i had fun with PokeStudios, but it was not worth it for the Pokedex to be fucked up. I did not embark on an adventure in New York United States with it's own 150+ monsters to go into the sequel game in the same region to catch fucking zubat and grimer AGAIN.

i wonder, why hasn't Gamefreak tried releasing a pokemon game on android/iphone? not a spinoff like GO or Masters ex. an actual game that plays the the mainline titles?

so dose Nintendo own the right to the gameplay/style itself? sorry for the stupid question.
They don't, but there have been attempts at Poke-Clones/Replacements and none have had any staying power. Recent example Palworld is likely a flash in the pan. They're competing with an entrenched behemoth that is arguably one of if not the most popular merchandizing brands ever.

It's going to rot for a long time yet.

This actually popped up in LifeSiteNews.

Context: LifeSiteNews is a website that promotes the traditional family from a Catholic perspective. Though their biggest focus is against abortion, they also talk tonnes against BLGT+ stuff and a lot of talk against pornography, fornication, and the like. They also sometimes delve into United States and Canadian politics. They almost never talk about video games; the fac tha they are talking about Pokémon Go shows tha th i something YUUGE.

Pokémon Go slammed for introducing genderless characters in latest app update

Many online are condemning the popular children's game Pokémon Go for pushing the LGBT agenda on children.

(LifeSiteNews) — Pokémon Go is being blasted for their new app update that seems to erase gendered avatars and replace them with genderless characters.

On April 17, the popular game Pokémon Go announced an app update to allow players to change their avatar’s appearance, which many online are pointing out is an attempt to push the LGBT agenda on children by making genderless game characters.

“Trainers, your avatar can now look even more like YOU!” the official Pokémon Go account wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“We’re excited to announce that new avatar customization options are now live in Pokémon GO!” it continued.

Many online were quick to point out that the update changed avatars from male and female to genderless characters.

Launched in 2016, the game has become immensely popular, particularly among children. However, in the new update, male avatars were given more feminine features and female avatars were given larger bodies and more defined jawlines, blurring the lines between the genders.

“Character creators in AAA games went from Male/Female to Body Type A and Body Type B,” former video game executive Mark Kern wrote on his X account.

“The next step, from AAA Studios I spoke with, says even body types are being erased in upcoming games,” he continued. “Instead, you will be presented with a random mix of male and female parts, bodies, heads and faces.”

“Pokemon Go! already did this yesterday. This is the future of AAA games,” he warned.

Similarly, many online responded to Pokémon Go’s update announcement, condemning the move.

“We are not androgynous,” one commented, while another pointed out, “The attack on women continues with Pokémon GO’S new update.”

“The new avatars almost look unnatural compared to the old ones,” another lamented. “They all look like they are transsexuals.”

“Who suggested this change and why to the anatomy?” another user questioned. “Why were the small indents on the women’s hips adjusted at all? Why not add more variation options in clothing and hair styles instead?”

“I’d like to ask about a partnership as well. I discovered an activist group who lists you as a client … id like to know if they had any hand in this,” the user continued.

Indeed, many online are pointing to Pokémon Go’s recent decision to consult with LGBT advocacy group GaymerX which aims to push the LGBT agenda into games.

“What’s behind the @PokemonGoApp gender erasure?” Kern questioned in an April 18 post.

“Turns out, the makers of Pokemon Go! consulted with a Sweet Baby Inc style consultancy firm, @GaymerX!” he revealed. “Did this lead to the changes?”

“These firms need to go!” Kern declared.

Because Gen 5 clearly follows on from FR/LG and not R/B/Y.

I still think all the games should have their own Pokédex. Even if that only means like 60-100 new mon heing in the game.

Stuff like the later games having 400 + in the dex honestly feels like it takes away something from the region itself.
