It feels a little cliche to make mufasa the typical chosen one.
Especially since a lot of Lion King media goes out of its way to show that maybe he and by extension Simba's decisions weren't always the best.

The music is being done by lin-manuel Miranda which is quite a surprising pick but really does call him the question why they put him on this instead of Moana 2.

If that doesn't tell you how little Disney cares about their latest animated outputs than I don't know what does.

Gee, if only they kept the red mane in everything and made that an actual plot-point in terms of being the "chosen one" or something. Sounds retarded.

Also the fact they bring in Kiara so half-heartedly just to never use her. They're just rubbing it in our faces now they're taking our childhoods and disfiguring it into their twisted image. This is what happens when you stop hiring animators.

So the trailer for the Lion King prequel about Mufasa just dropped and it's as awful as it sounds.

“Mufasa: The Lion King” enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka—the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny—their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.

I always joked that if Disney made an actual prequel about Mufasa they'd probably retcon it to make it so that Scar was totally right about Mufasa all along. I didn't actually expect them to be retarded enough to do that shit. For those who are unaware, Taka is supposed to be Scar's real name.
I really hope this flops, but my god the only good use for this movie is going to be as a tech demo.

To be fair Moana 2 is just a bunch of episodes for a scrapped TV show made into a movie.

the only thing left we need is Jarfa was the good guy.
butler was not bad in Aristocrats/Oliver & Company.
I guess they won't make a hunch back movie.
we need a colonizer movie for Alatanis/Pocahontas. (ignoring their second movies both)

The funniest part? Taka basically translates into English as "trash/garbage" or "dirt". Yeah, no shit Scar turned out to be evil. If I named my child "shit lord" I wouldn't have a leg to stand on when he started selling crack.
Its the equivalent of naming your daughter "Crystal" or "Destiny". Your not exactly setting them up for any career other than at a strip club.

Looks like KH rumors are still persistent and we may actually be getting a TV series/movie for Disney+
Oh god no! Brown gay activist Sora! A Tumblrfaggots wet dream.

You know what they should have done instead? A Timon & Pumbaa movie with lots of humor and adventure. Kids would have loved that. But Disney is garbage and can only produce garbage.

I BARELY remember 3. I only saw it once in a theater and it involved their babies. That's all I know.

Never saw 4 but never heard anything good about it either
not to sperg but from my understanding because of how long it takes to make the fucking things 3+4 were greenlit after 2 did so well and the franchise was the only thing keeping dreamworks afloat, 3 was a massive step down according to everyone and 4 was slightly better but neither plot was as much of a natural continuation as 2 was to 1.

Another thing to remind people of is that Shrek moved beyond the movies

Can't wait for another film about talking lions who display as much emotion as an amoeba because the animation needs to be as "rEaLiStIc" as possible – in a movie about talking lions, of all things.

This looks like something straight out of a PS4 game LOL

Man, ten or fifteen years ago I'd be excited as hell. Now I just hope it gets canned before it can be properly made.
As a big kh fan/expert Im very, VERY skeptical about this being real.

It's either going to be decent or non-existent because this shit needs permission from the Japanese to get made. They won't allow a half assed commercial.

Im thinking this is either a prequel adaptation of the keyblade war or perhaps a lead up to kh4. There's no way they can adapt the games.

I’m in the same boat in regards to this being real. As far as making a KH TV show/movie is concerned the chance Disney had was when the KH animatic pitch was shown to the suits and they wasted it when Eisner passed on it.

But making one now essentially requires involvement from Square Enix and, if rumors are to be believed, Nomura’s blessing. The most that Disney can do without those two is merchandising (which is still uncommon, the most you’ll ever is cheap figures/pins) and having Mickey, Donald, and Goofy show up to Disneyland’s yearly Halloween events in their KH attire.

There’s also the 10-year period between Birth By Sleep and KH1 where the Heartless run amok in the Realm of Light, I‘ve always thought that period would make for a nice short series showing how a world would handle a Heartless invasion.

If it's a show, it wouldn't even be the first time such a thing is attempted, there was a scrapped Kingdom Hearts show from years and years ago. But yeah, even with just Kingdom Hearts I in mind, a single movie just wouldn't cut it with everything that goes on.
