ARRIS Surfboard Modem

I ordered it from the Arris website and it arrived in some weird cardboard box for a completely different product which wasn't a big deal. But when I went to plug it in I was on the phone with my ISP for 2 hours trying to figure out why they couldn't configure it on their end... Then I discovered why... For no fucking reason what so ever it demands that you install an app on your phone to use it which requests your GPS and shows ads inside the app. Immediately returned it. This thing is a product of Satan, do not purchase it.

Any computer component made by XFX or Gigabyte. I've always found XFX Radeons to be shoddily made, one even had its capacitors blow up in my computer and died after only a month of use.

Gigabyte on the other hand has always been trash for me with a few exceptions (I've found their monitors to be pretty good.) Their customer service also sucks mad dick.

Bought it at around $10 for high speed and its tiny size, but the pins are so frigile, they bend from very few uses. They shortcircuit now. Not worth trying to repair yourself with needle. It is hard to reach and it will break again.

Yeah that's weird. I have that same model and I wasn't required to do any of that. Just plug and play on my end.

There's also the problem with some of their PSUs literally exploding, fragging the entire system.

For PSU's I just avoid anything that isn't Corsair, Seasonic or EVGA (even though they had a little bit of a fuckup recently) like the plague. Gigabyte PSU's especially are really no better than some no-name power supply brand from 2006, and even then the noname PSU would probably last longer under load.

That's wild. I've been using my (bought used) SBG10 for years with no issue. This must be a more recent model. I will definitely avoid them going forward.

I am retroactively vindicated in my choice to never bother with any sort of water cooling. Some air cooled heatsinks actually outperform AIOs. Source: I made it the fuck up. If you're going to use an AIO, try to avoid these brands.

Does Gigabyte actually make anything good? I've heard nothing but bad things about them. I havent had any of their parts but I only upgrade my PC like once a decade so I only buy higher end brands.

I have a Gigabyte M32U and it's pretty decent, no issues with it so far. Also on the cheaper side of 4k 144hz monitors. Just hope to god nothing goes wrong with it anytime soon that requires me to RMA it, because 9 times out of 10 gigabyte will just send your broken shit back to you and say they can't fix it because it's totally your fault why it's broken and it isn't covered by warranty.

Other than that, no they don't. Their motherboards are wonky and sometimes just stop POSTing, their graphics cards (this generation especially) are prone to PCB cracks, their PSU's are terrible, their peripherals are cheap e-waste, their pre-builts suck (but that's just par-for-the-course when it comes to prebuilts), their customer service is the worst out of every computer company, it's just a brand that should be avoided at all costs.

It was a SB8200 I think it was excess stock or refurbished because the box it arrived in was some internal cable company parts box. I had got everything set and plugged in, called my ISP they said it was all set on their end but my router wasn't connecting to the internet still. After an hour I recalled to get another agent incase the first one was incompetent and they said it was fine to. Looked in the manual and it said I needed to install this phone app to complete setup, I plugged in my old modem and it worked fine, eventually got a netgear modem and did the exact same setup and it worked.

I actually owned an older model of that Corsair water pump and it was the first part I've ever had completely fail on my PC, for some reason the RPM got stuck at max and it just burned itself out.

Maybe I'm just really lucky, but I've been using their motherboards almost exclusively for years and never had a single problem.

I bought a $250 Audio-Technica microphone a couple months back for recording and within, like, a week the crappy plastic stand broke. Now the port's busted and it only works if I plug it in at a very specific angle for some reason?? The mic itself's good quality, so I'm not sure why they'd skimp out on such an inconsequential part of the product.

Any of the automatic cleaning cat litter trays are awful. I also got a Eufy brand robotic vacuum cleaner as a housewarming gift that tended to just brush dirt around on the floor more than anything else. It had a gift for looking busy when it wasn’t doing fuck all.

Idk if they still sell it, but the Aria Fitbit smart scale performs badly, in that it doesn’t measure your weight accurately and will constantly try to assign weights taken to whoever the first programmed user is on the scale. Buy a normal digital scale for 1/3rd of the price and log weights manually in your app of choice if you want.

I had a really expensive Smeg toaster for a while and it was the shittiest toaster I have ever had. Couldn't toast a piece of bread remotely evenly, some bits would be soft while other bits would be black. Stuck with it for way too long because it was such an investment. I've heard Smeg are shit for other appliances too.
