Makeup! Clothes! "Girly stuff" thread

Any fragrance autists here?
I have been looking for a while for a perfume that smells like bird suet, but apparently I'm the first one to be obsessed with the smell. The bird suet I use in specific is made from:
Corn, Rendered Beef Suet, Oats, Cranberries, Almonds, Pecans, Walnuts, Soy Oil or Corn, Peanuts, Rendered Beef Suet, Oats, Cranberries, Almonds, Pecans, Walnuts, Sunflower Oil
It's very fruity and nutty smelling, almost like a strong olive oil or if you've had apple flavored oatmeal. It's not a subtle smell, it's incredibly sweet, but just as nutty/fatty as it is sweet. Shea butter mixed with popcorn mixed with cranberries and corn syrup type of smell.
I asked ChatGPT and it told me this:
Base Notes: Shea Butter, Cedarwood, Tonka Bean
Heart Notes: Sunflower, Oatmeal
Top Notes: Lemon, Juniper Berry, Dried Fruits

I don’t know if it’s still sold (got it as a Christmas gift) but Ted Bakers raspberry and orange blossom body spray might be an option? It’s sweet but not sickly, with zesty lemon undertones.

Not to necro the thread or whatever but I just bought some eyeshadows from Colourpop and I can’t wait for them to arrive, I’m so excited.
I've started to wear fun eyeshadows more and it's been so fun and I've been getting so many compliments, lol.

Also I finished up my eyeliner so instead of buying the same one I bought the NYX Epic ink liner because its the one my best friend uses and she told me good things about it and I know everyone and their mother knows it by now but it is so, so good. Probably the best felt tip eyeliner I've ever used.

additionally, NYX butterglosses are an amazing formula and the shade Spiked Toffee is a beautiful natural color. I'd say it's a pretty universal shade, but if you have pale cool olive skin I can't recommend it enough; it's the perfect neutral rosy brown, not too muted and not too bright and not too light nor dark. Seriously worth trying out.

what cosmetic product have you kiwis been loving recently?

colourpop is the best eyeshadow on the market - you done good!
Thanks, so glad to hear that 8)8):heart-full:It’s my first time ever buying anything from them because their products aren’t on any physical stores where I live and I don’t really do online shopping. But this time it feels totally worth it:evil:

Ooh, fun! Which palette did you get? (Hope you live in a good area - their customer service is notoriously bad. 9/10 times if the delivery man steals your order, they ignore emails.)

I got a few recently too. The Pretty Guardian was half off. (Still is, last time I checked.) The supershock shade in it (Silver Millennium) is a gorgeous highlighter.

The butterglosses are great. I like the smaller tube size. I can fit them in my pencil case. Too bad they seem to have a different formula - the last ones I got went bad really quickly.
Additional reccomendation: the shade cinnamon roll. A gorgeous dark-ish brown. If you don't want to fully commit to pigmented lipstick, this stuff is a lot of colour and flexible to wipe/wear.

I got some of those double-ended e.l.f. lash/brow gels, for old time's sake. I used to use them to death before I wore or used makeup.
It's actually difficult to find a "drugstore" clear brow gel. If you want to spend less than $25 on clear brow gel, you have one option. I went to target a few years ago and there was E.l.f. and Maybelline.
So far the e.l.f. remains on top. If you have coarse, dark Morrissey brows that don't respond to civilian-grade brow gel, the Maybelline stuff isn't going to work. The Essence gel also doesn't work.
The day e.l.f. inevitably price gouges theirs like all their other shitty products and turns it to water is the day I revolt.

I have been using this for years and will never use anything else, it's perfect. I hope they don't discontinue it like they did the total control drop foundation (Whyyyyy?!?! 😭).

I got the Wine & Only palette, the super shock eyeshadow in the shade “Drift” and a bunch of JellyMuch Shadows! And omg, Im a euro, sadly, so it’s gonna take forever to arrive; that’s partly why I bought a lot of stuff and why I had never purchased from them in the first place; I wanted free shipping and I don’t think I will buy more anytime soon haha. I’m so excited though.

and aww, that’s a shame that the palette you got wasnt that good. The collab is cool, but it doesn’t look that sailor moon-y.

I fit them in my pencil case too so I can reapply in between classes, omg…8):heart-full::heart-full::heart-full:
that sucks, I don’t think I’ve had the same problem (we’ll see, though…)

I’ve looked into Cinammon Roll! it looks gorgeous on its own, but Ive been unsure about buying it since Im afraid it would be too desaturated of a color, which that’s the problem that I had with the shade Praline. It’s been going viral for being the MLBB or whatever, but I found it too greyish and light. maybe ill swatch it next time I go to the in person store :)

As I write this I’m wearing Rocky Road… usually deep colors like that are super daunting to me because they emphasize pale skin, but lately I’ve been into more gothic emoish vaguely alt looks so it’s perfect now.

All excellent choices! You'll love the supershock shadow. Sometimes palettes will even include them, but usually aren't advertised anywhere when they are.
Cross your fingers even harder, friend, because unfortunately... Euro customs snatches Colourpop orders if they can get their hands on them. Especially German customs, apparently.
It's all hearsay, but after reading this I can only recall countless horror stories of customs taking hundreds of dollars of large orders. :feels:

Oh, I meant that the customer service has a reputation. I've actually had great luck with the brand's website. I got the palette from Ulta this time, though usually I'll order off the company's site or buy from the store. I actually love the palette so far and would recommend it. I've never even seen Sailor Moon, but as an item on its own, it's really pretty regardless.
Colourpop seems to be the only American brand in America that actually makes/designs/distributes everything under one roof within the country. Unfortunately, this means anyone outside here has to fight to get theirs.

Just looked that up - with the supershock, it sounds like it'll make a beautiful monochromatic look! Not too intense, but very eye-catching, as both can be sheered out and layered.

it's perfect. I hope they don't discontinue it
Ugh, I know! Nyx always discontinues their best stuff… Right now so many make up releases have been so mediocre, it feels like every brand does the same thing. I wish they released more different, odd products with cooler tones and fun colors.
All excellent choices! You'll love the supershock shadow
Thanks! I got it because I read it was a good dupe for Urban Decay’s “Gash“ eyeshadow which apparently was Gerard Way’s holy grail. And I need that fake emo look  (because real emo is the 90s screamo scene or whatever, I don’t care….). But also because it looks like a beautiful color, obviously.

Oh yeah, some of the colors are super pretty. Im so jealous of the discounts Ulta seems to offer! where I live, stores never put stuff like eyeshadow palettes half off… although there is a section where everything is one or two dollars and you can find surprisingly great stuff quality wise.

totally! I love that so much about glosses, the way they lose color but not shininess as they fade.

also this is unrelated but your Robert smith profile picture is so good, yesterday I wore Ruby Woo and thought about him since it’s one of the lipstick he’s said to have used.

sorry to necro the thread but i needed somewhere to bitch: i switched my toner from andalou to humphrey because i wanted to try a brand that was less expensive. my dudes, i made a huge mistake. this shit smells like the miscarried baby of antiseptic and barbecue sauce and it makes my face feel like it was instantly dehydrated. i should've known since humphrey is a drug store tier brand but i'm a pleb when it comes to skincare products, so i figured a toner would be somewhat hard to fuck up.

"Toner" isn't really a thing, it's a generic term. A toner could be a moisturiser or a chemical exfoliant or a vitamin C or literally just rose water. What were you using before and what did you switch to? If you went from something hydrating to something astringent, that's going to cause problems.

This thread is so good I’m Unironically thankful whenever someone DOES necro it. Bless you:)

I can’t advise you on toners cause I don’t know anything about it, but, ew, sorry that happened.*sigh*I usually never complain about fragrances but every once in a while a product comes out with a smell so bad it makes you wonder if they somehow did it in bad faith, like some kind of Resident Evil tier Bio-Weapon.

on another topic, the Colourpop stuff I previously mentioned ordering a few posts ago finally arrived last week and it is as amazing as you kiwis told me. Everything blends great, lasts all day, doesn’t crease. I’m wearing the Super Shock shadow as I write this and it’s so good.
All hail reddish eyeshadow looks.8)

The gel eyeshadow in the shade Shiny Penny especially surprised me, it’s the most flattering warm neutral shadow I’ve ever worn- I love the green reflects. Do recommend.:jaceknife::heart-full:

What’s the consensus on foundation?
I’ve been using powder foundation for a couple of years now and I like it well enough. However an acquaintance of mine recently went off on a tear about how powder makes your skin look old, and dewy finish bb creams are more flattering after a certain age. I’ve been toying with the idea of trying that, but I have big pores and my skin still gets breakouts, so I’ve held off.

How do you handle the problem of foundation?

How do you handle the problem of foundation?
I frankly don’t own a foundation and have never used one; I wouldn’t be opposed to it, but I don’t want to bother since i’m really pale and finding a good color match with the right undertone has so far been a pain. :'(:'( Plus, they are pretty expensive and require good technique to be properly applied and last.

I’m not very self conscious of my complexion, so I don’t think buying one it’s worth the effort. I do own concealer though:lol:

Powder foundation hasn’t been in style for a few years now, and I think that’s why people say it makes one look older :geek:. However, I think this is going to soon change because Korean cushion powder foundations are starting to go really, really viral and people are constantly raving about the formulas.

If you like the foundation you use and you think it flatters you, I don’t see reason to change it. you know yourself and your skin the best! 8) :heart-full:

if you are self conscious about your pores I would refrain from a shiny or dewy finish because it might emphasize them. On the other hand, that shinier look does give the skin a glowy, hidrated and juicy appearance. Some people do say it can look oily instead of healthy, however.

Nonetheless, a powdery or matte finish will always have that blurring effect. ;) In the end there is no best, definite option; it all depends on what you want to emphasize and what you wish to conceal.

If you like powder, keep using powder .

i was originally using andalou's willow bark facial toner and then i switched to humphrey's clarifying toner. of course now when i read the ingredients it makes a lot more sense why this dried my skin out so badly, because it only contains witch hazel and 14% alcohol, and both of those are astringents. god.

anyways, what's micellar water and what does it allegedly do? i know the skincare industry is full of pointless products and it can be difficult to find good information in a post-advertising pissing contest search optimization internet.

It's for removing makeup, it has little oil particles in it that stick to makeup and pull it off your face when you use it on a cloth or cotton pad. It doesn't really do anything if you just try to wash your face with it.

Some people like it, it's not a must-have.
