Man of the people.

You guys sound like he made a dead baby joke. It was a simple cut “op my mom’s dead.”
The Dead Mom joke.
To me what made the mom joke work was how sober the introduction of the video was, talking about the brainfog and it's effects on his work, so when the joke comes it catches you off guard. It really elevated the bit.
Edit: typo

He reviewed the Sean Connery Dragon movie.

People have said as a derogatory statement that doug should be an inspiration to any creative, that he could have barely any talent and still be so successful. But I think that genuinely makes me look up to him.

There are mountains of people that were far more talented than doug, that could accomplish more than him outright.

And those people live six feet under. Not even there for a fraction of the time doug has stayed around.

I remember ding dong from oneyplays, who would shit on doug when brought up, and seemed to have a sense of superiority. But in the end, ding dong is known for a let's play channel, barely has anything on his main channel, and has a game stuck in perpetual development hell.

Doug was never all that good at what he did, and simply didn't have the ability to do better. But despite that, he was able to find the one thing he did do well, capitalize on it, and then keep that success by simply being consistent. Him only losing the blessings of the algorithm after fifteen fucking years is a testament to that. I have had countless YouTubers I watch grow, peak and die within a fraction of that time.

It actually sends a powerful message, that even if you cannot be the mort creative, the most artistically skilled, or the most talent person, you can still make it by maintaining consistency, putting in the hours, and keeping your nose out of the dirt pile.
