Sony hate thread

Sony fucked 'em over.

I wasn't aware of this eventuality where a Playstation account will be required. Me and the group of friends I played Helldivers 2 with weren't aware of this either, it's listed on a side bar in the Steam page.

The Helldivers 2 devs should've done a better job informing the players of this requirement at game's launch, just in case Sony would try forcing them to link their accounts.

Adding salt to the injury, in some countries (former Eastern Bloc, Middle East, Latin America) you can't make a Playstation account so...

...Sony sucks and fucked 'em over, but the devs could've done a much better job at dropping the bomb on the community.
The chart is inaccurate, both the Philippines and Japan cannot play Helldivers 2, let alone purchase it.

Even better.

I think the creator of the map mixed up "Can't play Helldivers" with "Can't create a Playstation account", but still.

Next lesson: stop trusting Playstation Studios as a publisher.

Looks like it was arrowhead-troons all along.

I'll be honest, I have 100+ hours on the game, I don't really give a fuck about creating a Sony account since I'll be giving them a throw-away email and fake information anyways (thank God I'm not Brit*sh) but I'm tempted to request a refund anyways since I'm already burnt out and I could use the money to essentially get EDF6 for free next month.

They actually can though, it's just that the game package is different in their region as they have full Japanese language support (for both text and voice-acting). I assume less gore too.

A similar example is how Dragon Quest 11S on Steam has its own package for Japanese customers, separated from the worldwide release, with all the contents (such as the voice drama section) that didn't made overseas.

Edit: Likewise Japan has its own packages of Resident Evil (aka the original name, Biohazard) with CERO Z versions sold on Steam like on consoles

I wonder, then that the recent patch included Japan's name on the list according to Steamdb?

MOD EDIT:
For context, Sony is frequently subjected to data breaches, including full doxes with account names, passwords, and addresses, and the PSN service they are enforcing is not available in every country which has PC Helldivers II players. The PSN user agreement includes draconian practices such as the ability to ban users for entering false personal information.

In case you thought you hated Sony enough, a new update came out about Helldivers 2 on Steam. They are now requiring you to link a Playstation Network account to play Helldivers 2 on Steam. For extra hilarity, it was just announced yesterday that Helldivers 2 is the 7th highest grossing Sony published game in history but if they don't count the PC sales, it wouldn't even rank in the top 20.

Soyny has always been their literal own worst enemies. Going all the way back to early PS1 era when the soyny US gaming head decided that he wanted a hip and actiony image for the brand and actively did everything in his power to keep J/W-RPGs (not just RPGs but especially them) off the system in the west. He refused to port all 1st and 2nd party RPGs from Japan or other places. Tried to pressure and make it as hard as possible for 3rd parties. Thankfully he was outed soon and PS1 went on to be one of the greatest RPG systems in history. But yeah, that's generally why soyny spent two decades or so releasing old japanese games from the early PS1 era. OC the newly found sane logic only lasted so long and by mid PS2 a new idiot was doing everything in his power (to the point of outright banning, 1st/2nd/3rd parties) to keep 2D and 2D style games, including top classics, off of the PS2 in the west. Then there is the PS3 lockdown.. the anti cross-play position and more. This new "soyny" western controlled era is only the latest.

A reminder that the pres or CEO or some other big idiot at soyny gaming lamented only a few years ago that they don't have a cross platform wide (as in PC and all consoles) system for banning people over whatever. Which OC is only a step away from including social gaming media and other types of accounts as well. (remembering that places like twitch reserve the right to ban you for off site opinions/activity themselves.)

That implies their games are worth pirating.
Many of their older releases still are. Since you play it on pc and can get mods. PlayStation is known for both shovelware and having no games depending on the console generation. But there are still some gems that are timeless classics. Their current gen games are not really worth pirating though. Kind of like how Nintendo sucks but people will still play oot and Mario 64 on emulators even though their current games are not worth pirating either.

I live in Japan. Been playing for over 160hrs...just like...how the everliving fuck Japan can't make a PSN account? lol
Also, for some reason, HD2 it is full gore (so far). Asked for a refund as I used to play with a bunch of Philippine dudes.
Game got stale anyway, will use the cash to buy anything else.
