Two 8-month-old pit bulls that were loose in Nanaimo attacked several children, severely injuring at least one. Other people that came to aid the children were also injured.

The children were playing in a yard at the house of one of their friends. The dogs were from somewhere else in the neighborhood and had been cited for being at large previously.

One of the owners of the dogs came and got the dogs but did not stick around. The news interviewed the other owner, a Dangerhair that looked to be in her late 40s or early 50s. While she was devastated at what her dogs had done, she said to the reporter, "People are saying, look at this from the prospective of a parent, well, these dogs are my kids, too," and then she broke down crying.

It was later reported both dogs were euthanized, as there have been other incidents prior to this one, and due to the severity of the injuries the one particular child sustained.

To the dangerhair dog owner I would have to say, "If these dogs were your KIDS, you did a lousy job of raising them. Thank heavens you didn't spawn any of your own."

People really think it's no big deal to fight off a dog. I have no idea why. That big mastiff is the same size as the grown man it was attacking, and probably weighed more.

It also took three bullets to put it down.
People are retarded and don't realize that human and animal musculature is entirely different. We have much more slow twitch muscle fibers which allow for much greater fine motor control while animals are basically all fast twitch muscle fibers which means they are 2 to 3 times stronger lb for lb than people. Your average 100 lb dog is about as strong as a 200 lb man, who is somewhat in shape.

There is also 4 of them. You coule maybe kill a pitt with your bare hands but if there are multiple of them you are just dead.
I've got a 6 inch scar on my leg from a dog just nipping me that completely ripped open my leg and it wasn't even trying to attack me in anger. The amount of damage even small animals can commit in an instant is overwhelming. There's a reason old people and children basically just die to animal attacks. They are overpowered and defenseless.

I’m sorry, Lucifer? Like the cat from Cinderella?
Nigger doesn't know that names can be meaningful. The cat was named Lucifer (presumably by Lady Tremaine) because he acts like a little minion, and therefore he turned out to be a nasty, malicious fat-ass. Imagine our shock that naming your dog "Lucifer" meant that he is going to live up to that name.

I particularly love the owner of Lucifer yelling "PUSSY," I assume at the cop, because you know it's very cowardly to shoot at 4 large dogs that have a human being down on the ground and are mauling him
Im pretty sure it was the dude that was getting mauled to death that was talking shit to the dying dog.

Reactions: draggs

A suspected illegal XL Bully breeding farm has been raided by police in Sheffield.
A total of 22 animals were seized from an allotment, including mothers and pups, in what officers described as "appalling conditions".
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said six of the animals were so unwell they were put to sleep.
Ch Insp Emma Cheney said: "Animal cruelty and suffering will not be tolerated within South Yorkshire."
Ownership of American Bully XL dogs is restricted under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
Since 31 December 2023, it has been against the law to sell, give away, abandon or breed bully XL dogs.

'Suffering state'

Police officers and officials from the council's animal health team discovered the breeding facility at the Infield Lane allotment site, off Greenland Road, on Thursday.

They drafted in specialist help and took away the creatures, which were said by police to be living in "small, inadequate, unhygienic conditions".
Ch Insp Cheney, who is in charge of the force's response to dangerous dogs, said: "We do not know how long some of the dogs have been living in these conditions, with female dogs having litters of puppies, while in their own suffering state.
"Following the XL Bully ban put in place earlier this year, it is now against the law to breed the dogs.
"Separate to the investigation around these dogs being XL Bullys, animal cruelty and suffering will not be tolerated within South Yorkshire and we will continue to work with partners to ensure those responsible are put before the courts."
Police said a suspect had been "identified" and the remaining animals were now being cared for in police kennels.
In April, South Yorkshire Police said it had dealt with 14 incidents involving out-of-control dogs in just one weekend.
These included a two-year-old being attacked by the family pet as well as others left needing surgery, following attacks by their own dogs in their homes.

The force said it had seized more than 300 dogs in the first four months of the year.

Out of morbid curiosity I just checked my local shelter and out of 77 dogs:
  • 5 German Shepherds
  • 3 Huskies
  • 3 Mutts of unknown origin
  • 66 Pit Bulls
God I hate these beasts so fucking much.
I didn't count them, but any time you look at my local shelter's inventory it's mostly pit bulls/"mixed breed" which is usually a pit bull mix. You will sometimes see two pictures side by side of dogs that look like they could be littermates and one will say "pit bull" while the other will say "mixed breed". I think there's a pit bull sympathizer who likes to label pit bulls / pit bull mixes as "mixed breed" to trick people who are looking for a dog.

From the Babylon Bee's blog/news site, Not The Bee (L/A):
Is it time to ban pit bulls? A few stats to consider

The only thing more dangerous than being within sniffing distance of Joe Biden is apparently being within reach of a pit bull.

Earlier this week, disturbing footage went viral of a police officer having to shoot one canine after a pack four dogs (three of which were pit bulls) attacked a man in the street in Philadelphia.

Just two days later, it was reported that a nine-year-old girl was recovering in hospital after she was attacked by a pit bull in Iowa.

It feels like every week, we're bombarded with heartbreaking stories of children (and adults) being mauled, and sometimes killed, by pit bulls. And yet, despite the staggering numbers, nothing seems to change. It's like a violent, pit bull-themed version of Groundhog Day.

Let's take a look at the numbers. Between 2005 and 2017, at least 433 Americans were killed by dogs. And guess what? Pit bulls were responsible for a whopping 66% of these deaths. Pit bulls — a breed that makes up only 6% of the dog population in the U.S. — is causing the majority of fatal attacks.

It's not even just humans who are suffering at the jaws of these dogs. In 2017 alone, pit bulls were responsible for the deaths of 13,000 dogs, 5,000 cats, and 20,000 horses and other farm animals.

Those are numbers Kristi Noem can only dream of.

Despite all this carnage, pit bull attacks rose a staggering 773% between 2007 and 2014, and between 1982 and 2018, pit bulls and pit mixes killed or maimed over 6,000 Americans, with over 2,400 of them being children.

So... what's the solution? First off, I believe we at least need stricter regulations when it comes to owning pit bulls. Mandatory spaying and neutering, liability insurance, and breed-specific legislation are just a few ideas that have been thrown around, but at the highest level, we need owners to face severe consequences when their animals cause irreparable harm to those around them.

And if that fails, is it time to start thinking about banning pit bulls?

You know what, good idea, let me check my local shelter.

The very first picture, before you even say what animal you're looking for, is of three pit bulls "smiling" in the grass. This doesn't bode well.

Takes 22 dogs before you get to one that might not be a pit bull. It's listed as a cattle dog/akita and still might have some pit.

32 pit bulls
1 "retriever, labrador, mix" (pit bull)
1 cattle dog/akita
1 rottweiler
1 anatolian shepherd/mastiff
1 husky

I really wasn't expecting this. The shelter is in a more rural area, but it's packed with pit bulls. They must be bringing them in from city shelters because I have never seen one pit bull as an actual pet in this area.

Whenever I am walking with my cocker spaniel (best breed ever) and I see a shitbull, I cross the street because I know that they are awful dogs and their owners shoud be lobtomized.
It is always the same kind of people as well. white trash and migrants who want to come across as "tough" or some shit like that.
Once when I was in the dogpark with the other dogs, someone came in with a pitbull and I notice how I and another owner just froze up over it.
Thankfully, nothing happend.

What the hell, I checked some nearby shelters, too. Closest one that actually showed any pitbulls as adoptable is not even within a stone's throw of me, but still. My favorite part is the "unknown date" for when the shelter got a hold of them. (Same was with the other dogs tbf, I don't think they're keeping tabs of when an animal's being dropped off.)

There were other dogs listed, all of them looked like mutts or what they were actually advertised as such (like chihuahuas and German Shepherds). At least these shelters have chipped all of these dogs and made sure they got fixed, which I think is a requirement at all shelters anyway, but now I'm curious if there's shelters that aren't doing this.
