You Know What Grinds My Gears? - Things that personally piss you off

I am slowly getting sick of Shitzard's launcher forcing me to turn my VPN off. It wasn't the case a few months back, I'd like to know what changed.

Idk what Shitzard's launcher is, but I do know that I have to turn off my VPN to access work-related apps. If I don't, I run the risk of getting a message from info security asking me whether my phone is with me and telling me I was flagged for pinging in unacceptable locations.

Also exceptionally annoying that I can't easily save online things to my personal OneNote bc we use MS products for work and the way our device access is set up, using the ON extension to clip things from the internet on phone is verboten, even when not logged in to work things. I have to remove company access, then re-add when I want to log in to company assets.

Also, work access aside, there are a lot of standard commercial sites I can't access with VPN on, even when using a US server. Not even a captcha situation - just no access whatsoever.

People who don't fucking read.

Hi, store X is closed on Monday, anywhere else in town I can get Y today? Have you tried store X?

I'm looking to make this change to my car, anyone done it or checked if it's possible? Sorry, your model car doesn't come with that feature.

etc.

I'm not sure how some of these people remember to breathe.

Jumped up musicians and actors who complain about politicians. This is for anyone in general who feels the need to broadcast their whingeing about specific politicians, across the TV networks, radio, newspapers etc.: ACTUALLY BECOME A POLITICIAN YOURSELF. I'm not a Gandhi bum-licker, but he said be the change you want to see in the world. Well, perhaps some Babylonian geezer said it "first", but, er... you know.

Continuing my bitching about my neighbors. Last week it was the hours of loud, nasal, eardrum-annoying going on and on about the new plantings. Today it was SIX hours of a company with big trucks/equipment for sucking up leaves and depositing mulch, starting at 730 am. I could not concentrate on work and even rescheduled some calls (it's loud enough that the guys doing the job have to yell to each other when it's on, even 10 feet apart).

If I had a brain, I'd have gone out and asked the service providers for a quote, as I could use some pro mulching (I've spread 150-200 bags on my own each of the last couple of years), but I was too irritable. My loss. But my neighbors still suck. On the upside, their dogs weren't outside barking for hours like residents of a junkyard today, for once.

I guess what I'm saying is that what grinds my gears is 50% my neighbors and 50% me.

This is a dumb one, but it really grinds my gears

My friend thinks that new movie "The Fall Guy" is a sequel to Drive. She's really insistent on it because Ryan Goslin is a "stuntman" in both films. It doesn't matter that they're not by the same directors, writers or even have completely opposite tones, he's a stunt guy in both films so it must be a sequel.

Your friend is having what is referred to in the medical field as a "certified Reddit moment."

When people are passionate about Trump (or whatever poltiical topic of the day), but for any other issue, they cowardly deflect into "things MAY be bad, BUT..." or "think of somebody else." The centrist approach just means they have no conviction for their beliefs, yet want to interject into discussion for their own milequest opinions or talking point.

Somewhat adjacent to tech illiteracy is not knowing how things like breakers work, especially when you're commenting on a thread about electrical stuff.

A thread on reddit was commenting about an outlet where an EV was plugged in had melted, many such stories, mostly poorly torqued wires and/or cheap outlets. Someone comments "I'm worried the breaker didn't blow." You fuck, the breaker didn't blow because the outlet melting didn't draw excess power it just turned some of the power that was supposed to go into the car into heat. It might have blown eventually when the wires melted enough to short out.

People think electricity is magical and breakers just know when there's a problem. These ignorant fucks are why AFCIs are now required almost everywhere, to protect people from themselves. Oh, the outlet is getting warm, I'm sure it's fine, the breaker will protect me.

I'm really glad I'm not an electrician by trade, I'd probably have strangled a couple customers with Romex(tm) by now.

I ordered this from Amazon as new. It shipped from Amazon and not a third party seller. It was not shrink wrapped when it arrived. The shipping envelope was undamaged and there were no shards of plastic broken off inside.

I'm less pissed off and more confused/impressed.

I might have said this before, but it bears repeating: I fucking hate out-of-touch, rich, holier-than-thou people who not only don't even realize that they're rich, out-of-touch, and holier-than-thou, but also act like they're oppressed, and like you're a part of the problem for not being able to afford the same expensive things they can.

News Flash: A few grand is not a cheap price for most things. Neither is a grand itself, or even a few hundred dollars. If somehow think it is, you deserve to be shot.

Attention seeking Women LARPing about abusive or "controlling" BF's in unrelated support circles just to ruin the purpose of the group and draw attention away from actual victims. No ladies, a guy kicking your ass out the door because you blatantly cheated on them doesn't make them abusive. It means they actually have some god damn self respect.

Going to any relationship board/forum on the Internet to complain "my spouse does [some banal thing]" or whatever is bound to be met with a volley of "YIKES — they sound irresponsible/abusive/unfit/etc. My relationship is great because of XYZ, you should leave them ASAP." It makes for exhausting, stupid reads.

A better way to phrase it is people online thinking they know a stranger's situation inside-and-out based off a paragraph or less of text. That shit's annoying.
