Looking like cursed AI;
the funniest/saddest part of the entire skeem is how it interacts with AI. AI can never really get toads right, it always gets the posture wrong because it's trying to give you an image of a dog. Yet paradoxically, pictures of actual toadlines have such clear limb deformity that one assumes they must be AI generated.

Dog has a bigger section on "Health" than "history" and "temperament" combined
King Charles are such sweet dogs and retard breeders have fucked them up so much.
Is there no moment where they try to unfuck them, so that they become normals dogs again? Maybe they should try to crossbreed them with other spaniels?
Also, seeing those poor toadline bullies breaks my hearts so much. These poor fuckers life will be one of constaint pain and will die young.
There is something wrong when fucking pugs are in better health!

They actually tried to recreate the look lol.

Just spent a minute browsing this degenerate’s instagram. This isn’t even the original dog named Redrum, this is his “clone”. Idk if that is literal or just winning the small pooled genetic lottery with inbreeding.
Either way, dog can barely waddle. He’ll be dead in a year.

I think there are some outcross programmes, but IIRC the problem is that outcrossing them for health will produce something that the breed societies won't call a Cavalier anymore. They have really fucked-up ideas about preserving the integrity of the breed, even if that means sickly and inbred.

Talking of pugs, this piece is old, but the breeders were exactly the same then.

It really is just Flight Rising for meth head trailer trash, huh? I'd assume he meant inbreeding, but the "second clone gets here in a month" is throwing me. Not sure how he'd know the genetics before they're born, but equally unsure if someone that jacks off mutants to mane the next mutants worse would invest the... 100k? in cloning not just 1, but 2 sick little freaks. Also don't know if cloning services offer hard deadlines, since IIRC they have to make a ton of embryos and trash the ones that don't end up viable. Positively ghoulish.

As promised, some cursed horse breeding information.

To start with, horses start with cursed anatomy. Long weird finger bones holding up their weight on one thick fingernail? Check. Breaths via gut sloshing while running? Check. Literally will die from a broken leg due to high blood pressure? Check. As a result of this, when a horse breaks a leg while running they have to be put down, as they can never actually recover from such an injury. One example of the issues a single broken leg can cause is the story of Barbaro, a racehorse who shattered its leg during a race and, despite risky surgeries, never recovered and was put down. He wasn't even that badly bred, horses are just that fragile.

Now, for some reason, people like to take these already weirdly breakable animals and make them worse. Behold, an extremely bred arabian:

The fact that thing is real haunts me. A creepy long neck and weird, dished face. For comparison, a better one:

How about a horse with a nice color but one that looks weird?

Look at those noodle legs. Technically, this has some bad conformation (weird neck shape, a long back, and back legs aren't ideal). Yes, it was bred like this. Some more bad conformation for you:

A swaybacked pony. Great.
horrid2.jpg

This thing looks like a potato. The knees are too far back and the legs are like posts.
horrid3.jpg

How about horse that would be referred to as downhill, on account of the higher hips to lower front? Plus more post legs.
horrid4.jpg

This one is a good example of a stud ad (remind you of the exotic bullies?). Plus a horse with double muscles and post legs. This thing should be a steak.

The reality is that any animal that can be bred to a weird extreme will be, and dogs and horses are some of the favorites to do this with. Hell, you can argue that mini horses and massive work horses are even weird extremes.

I'll come back with more weird horse stuff (stud ads and whatnot) but I feel this kinda fills in a lot of examples of crappy horses that people have bred.

"Several years ago, when a friend first described line breeding to me, it seemed kind of creepy. If you haven't heard this term, the average person would probably think of it as inbreeding--when a sire or dam appears more than once within a pedigree. The goal of line breeding is to concentrate bloodlines to bring out desirable traits in the resulting offspring."

Horse breeders to dog breeders: "Hold my beer, I can make this way more fucked up"

Here is a spine of a normal dog vs something like a frechy or pug.(I use those breeds as examples but this is found in many of these "premium" dog breeds) a spine isn't supposed to be at a fucking angle. And this isn't even the worst. There are many images of almost 90° angle spines. This isn't a mutation in a couple of individuals. This is the breeding standard. to breeders this is a desirable trait among many other destructive traits. And it isn't just for small breeds there are examples of even large breeds like German Shapeards that are the big versions of these little mutants in this thread.

I'm no vet but from what I understand becuase of this spine shape this causes the cushion between vertebrae to basically dissolve completely over the course of their lives.

Can see why royals are drawn to horse stuff now...
Family resemblance.

Serious question: who sets these standards, and are they as retarded as the animals they're creating?

It's forcing me to make an account to read that article :( can anyone archive it here?

If brainlets wanna pay a fuck ton from breeders for little cutesy dogs that have such endearing qualities such as; snoring when they sleep becuase they can't breath, hacking becuase they're "excited" to the point of needing help breathing, painful health problems from birth to death, and have big cheeks and big eyes like babies. Then why change the money maker?

Breed standards are set by private organizations called breed clubs. e.g. https://frenchbulldogclub.org/fbdcahistory/
You then have a parent club, such as the American Kennel Club (AKC) that enforces the standards of all the breed-specific clubs with competitive conformation (dog shows such as Westminster).

And yes they're retarded weirdos almost without exception. Especially for the non-working dog breeds where there's no motivation to preserve any utility of the animal; it's all about appearance.

"Dog fancy" (interest in breeding and showing purebred dogs) is historically a hobby for stupid old people with too much money.

Another reason to not like the genetic abominations that are frenchies and bulldogs.

Screw tail (sometimes called corkscrew tail or ingrown tail) is a horrible condition we've bred into bulldogs, frenchies and other similar stub tail breeds.
Basically, the tail is so short and curled it is sort of ingrown into the back and doesn't really move much. It needs constant cleaning and if owners don't clean the tail enough then they can develop pus pockets with infection and fungus.

The dogs will often need surgery to remove the tail at that point.

Here's a bondi vet video about a shitty owner complaining about her backyard breeder dog.

Reminds me a family friend adopted a rottweiler that was dumped at a shelter because the previous owner cut its tail too short so you had to wipe her bum after she pooped

Have people in this thread talked about Lemon frost leopard gecko morph being a lethal gene that causes a lizard to form tumors on its body and horribly die from them in early age? Breeders, especially in Asia, still breed them because "wow pretty blue eyes and nice color" and try to say stupid things like "only those geckos who were bred wrongly develop tumors, but ours don't, so buy our terminally ill lizards!
