One Piece - I'm Gonna Be the Pirate King!

t’s amazing how many readers regardless of politics never look at the big picture of the world. Fact is WG has kept 99% of it safe for 900 years. Even Dragon, the dude besed on fucking Castro, says the Marines and the Govetment are vital and good.

I really don't think that the story is as simple as "the real prince of the world beating up the oppressive usurpers". Roger's crew reaction to the revelations they've found clearly wasn't indignation. Most likely both the reason why the disaster is coming and the reason why Imu wrote off the majority of humanity in advance, instead of seeking a way to save everyone, is some retarded and laughable petty grudges, instead of some malevolent ideological convictions.

The best thing about the Egg Head arc has bern every time we cut away from it or get a lore dump about something completely different.

Seeing people throughout this arc just be ‘yeah, we really don’t care about Egg Head itself’ and Oda seemingly agreeing has be funny shit.
Hasn't cutting to lore dumps about something completely different been part of the One Piece arc formula for years now?

Fuck it.

Bring back Ace and Whitebeard, who cares at this point.
Okay, but a hard cut to like Marco sitting at their gravestones listening to this would have been great.
All the revelations we got this chapter regarding Joy Boy have been “well yeah, no shit,” but they’re great nonetheless.
Joyboy is going to have an eyepatch.

I wonder if Luffy failing to gouge out his own eye in the first chapter is supposed to be a contrast telling readers "Luffy is not Joyboy."
If that was the case, I think we would have learned about Joy Boy much earlier than we did.

Joy Boy ate all of Imu’s meat.
And the One Piece is one big butcher shop.

I wonder how much of the Vegapunk story will be confirming theories that have been circulating already.

Considering when he first met Rayleigh, that’s very possible. Though I do think this’ll be more like Marineford where the big reveals will happen in a way where Luffy and the Straw Hats won’t hear/notice them.
kuma is still around so its always possible he could launch them all over to elbaf instantly. robins the only one who i imagine even cares about any of what vegapunks saying for obvious reasons.

so odds are she will hear it all and it will result in her being able to understand more about the poneglyphs she has read especially the ones related to joy boy such as the one back on fishman island.

speaking of rayleigh though i wonder if he already knows this stuff it would be interesting to see his reaction especially for the big reveals.

He probably does which is why he offered to tell them about the One Piece and Luffy shot it down immediately. He's likely yucking it up with a shit-eating grin while working on coating a ship knowing he's going to be getting an influx of customers very soon.

So does the Mother Flame repel or stop the Five Elders power like it's sea prism? Mars was in his human form trying to break its containment machine, and Saturn had disgust when he saw it like a vampire to sunlight.

That would be interesting and why Lunarians were seemingly killed off, or maybe its what powers them to begin with (and thus the seraphim)

With all the breaks recently does anyone else kind of get annoyed at being a weekly reader sometimes?

Back when I started One Piece Water 7 was just starting and I read all the way up to what was currently out and from that point on I would wait a year or two before reading everything that came out in big chunks. I didn't stop doing this until Whole Cake Island where I started going weekly. It worked well then because One Piece wasn't nearly as big in the west, but by the time I adopted reading weekly it had started to get prevalent and avoiding big spoilers is really hard to do... just thinking about how much Gear 4th Luffy is plastered around the internet is credit to how my old style of doing things wouldn't work to well anymore. I really do miss that pacing of having a lot of new content, sometimes the weekly (or more) grind is really frustrating.

Honestly, I'd say the only issue I'd have with reading One Piece is that there'd come some time where after a while, you have to remind yourself "oh yeah, there's a treasure that this guy is looking for". It's like the main objective of the series keeps falling by the wayside because of some side quest.

I'd also say that Zoro's "world's greatest swordsman" quest might also be struggling to be relevant because Zoro keeps getting and doing cool shit like "King of Hell" and Mihawk is just sitting around waiting for Zoro to come fight him while he doesn't really do anything to show why he has that title instead of just coasting by on his reputation and finding reasons to not go all out (or just not fight at all).

I'm familiar with the memes, but you can't really be like "Heh, Mihawk just sits around reading newspapers all day. What a loser! :smug:" when like six months ago in the manga's time he was the guy teaching Zoro all his new moves.

I thought it was two years in manga time.

But again, the true showdown of Zoro vs Mihawk is feeling like one of those things where you forget it’s a future thing that’s bound to happen to wrap up the story unless somebody tells you about it.

Also, I guess this is Mihawk when it comes to hearing about Zoro now:

I don’t think Mihawk is a loser. I just want him to do something that shows how great he is with a sword besides dismissing a fight opportunity because he feels it’s beneath him.

Nope. A few months since the time skip ended. And since then the Warlords got dispanded, he teamed up with Buggy and Croc, started putting bounties on Marine heads. Migawk has been doing loads

He’s teamed up with Buggy and Croc and everyone knows they will come face to face with the SH. The last time we saw them was Buggy declaring to make his move. Which came immediately after Shanks saying he’d start moving.

It only feels like it might not be relevent because as you say, reading weekly, that was ages ago. Even when storywise it really wasn’t.

Part of me thinks the issue is Oda doesn’t have time to deducate to showing more of that than is absolutely needed.
