A thumb-sucking paedophile who claims to identify as a five-year-old girl arrived at court dressed as an elf as she admitted breaching an order by kissing two girls she approached at random.

Janiel Verainer, 60, wore a red and green outfit and a woolly cardigan fitted with a Santa Claus badge as she pleaded guilty to breaching a sexual harm prevention order at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday.

The transgender paedophile , who was also wearing a red and green elf-like cap, asked to be addressed as a woman throughout the 15-minute hearing after walking into court assisted by a 'helper' while bells jangled from her costume.

Verainer also sucked her thumb during the hearing and was allowed to sit in the public gallery, rather than the traditional dock.

The court heard that Verainer, of Chatham, Kent, approached random schoolgirls between December 18, 2019, and January 31 earlier this year before kissing them on the lips, despite already being subject to a sexual harm prevention order banning her from contacting children.

The order was imposed in November 2016, when Verainer was jailed for 15 months at Canterbury Crown Court after being seen kissing a child outside a café in Thanet.

Indecent images were also found on her phone at the time, and psychiatrists found she had personality problems, but no mental health issues.

Her sentencing on Thursday was adjourned to February 25 for a probation report to be prepared. A psychiatric report has already been completed.

At an earlier court hearing, Verainer had her hair up in pigtails and sucked a dummy as she denied the charges.

Three other counts of failing to comply with the order were dropped by prosecutors.

During her appearance at Canterbury Crown Court in 2016, Verainer claimed she identified as a five-year-old girl named Jorven Seren and got a ticking off from a judge for hugging a large doll as she awaited her fate in the dock.

Judge Adele Williams told his defence barrister Paul Hogben at the time: 'That is totally inappropriate and I make it plain she will not be doing that for the rest of the hearing.'

A thumb-sucking paedophile who claims to identify as a little girl and once appeared in court dressed as an elf has been jailed for breaching a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO), it has emerged.

Janiel Verainer, 63, had been keeping two secret phones in a 'Hello Kitty' inspired bedroom, a jury heard. Police found the unregistered devices during a routine check at Verainer's Kent home in November last year.

The sex offender, whose previous convictions include sexual assault of a child and possessing indecent images, was required to disclose any internet-enabled devices to authorities - but had failed to do so, the court heard.

While the phones had only been used for legal, adult-related content via Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and eBay, Verainer admitted breaching the SHPO - which was first imposed in 2016 - following a trial last week at Maidstone Crown Court.

Verainer had initially denied seven breaches of the SHPO between November 2022 and November 2023, but later pleaded guilty to the charges. The paedophile was jailed last week for a total of 16 months.

During the two-day hearing, Verainer, from Chatham, Kent, asked to be referred to as 'Ms' and by the pronouns 'she-her'.

The sex offender, with long hair in bunches, was seen thumb sucking while sitting in the dock at Maidstone Crown Court. Verainer wore a sweatshirt emblazoned with pictures of kids' alphabet building blocks as, well as the words 'I am mentally 3 to 7 years'.

However, the court heard that the paedophile had no underlying mental health disorder, learning difficulty, or brain injury.

Furthermore, a psychiatric report concluded that despite an expressed desire to be diagnosed as an 'adult-child' or with 'adult-child syndrome', no such medical condition exists and was, according to the expert, 'perhaps a life choice or a manifestation of extremely poor coping skills'.

During the trial, the court heard from Paul Hart - Verainer's registered carer and partner - who gave evidence while clutching a Hello Kitty toy and sucking on a baby's pink dummy.

He told the jury he had seen Verainer using a Samsung phone, and said: 'I thought I could trust her.

'She was only using it to do her music, eBay, and she had a Facebook account.

'I knew 100% she was definitely messaging adults. She showed me she was messaging an adult on Facebook Messenger.'

Mr Hart added that another phone which Verainer had registered with police was one that had no internet access.

Verainer, who has also used the name Jorven Seren, previously flouted the conditions of the same SHPO in April 2022 after kissing two children.

During those legal proceedings, in which the paedophile was handed a seven-month prison term suspended for 18 months, Verainer made headlines by appearing in the dock dressed as an elf.

Explaining Verainer's decision to identify as a young child, defence barrister Philippa Beswick told the court her client has 'regressed to a happier time in her life' as a result of stress and trauma suffered more than 20 years ago.

But Ms Beswick confirmed that the terms of the SHPO were now 'fully accepted'.

Recorder James Lofthouse, jailing Verainer last Wednesday for a total of 16 months, said that breaching court orders 'came with consequences'.

He said: 'It is plain you are someone who has difficulty coping with adult life but, as the psychiatrist makes plain, there is no underlying psychiatric disorder.

'You recognise you breached this order and that you cannot access the internet in this way which, for someone else, would be innocent activity.

'You need to be aware that the SHPO and sex offender requirements you are subject to remain in force.

'Further breaches will only and inevitably lead to ever longer sentences. The onus is on you to ensure that doesn't happen.'

Verainer has been held on remand at men's prison HMP Elmley on the Isle of Sheppey since being arrested.

A further SHPO breach charge and an offence of failing to comply with sex offender notification requirements were left on the court file.

Admittedly it does this by never using any pronouns and just saying his name, but how far we've come in such a short period of time. Hopefully next time he's back in court in 2026 we can just cut the crap and say HE is a paedophile and needs HIS life ended.

Me, mostly because I was reading the fact that the registered carer knew he had the fucking phones and is still the registered carer. Surely at the point you are enabling the pedo to breach the terms of their release then you cannot be a registered carer?
