Ralph can be an obnoxious loud drunk, but he has the sort of redneck charisma that will get people to at least give him a chance if he went job hunting. Ralph would make a perfect barman as long as he stays sober enough, he's funny, he's the sort of guy it would be fun to shoot the shit with over a few beers. He's able to talk to be people, which opens doors.
Lucas is a sullen, twitchy weirdo with bad hygeine and a worse attitude.
No employer would even give him a chance.
He's a charisma blackhole.
Ralph could talk his way into a job fairly easily, it would be keeping it he would have the problem with. Lucas would have a hard time getting in the door.
